Meet Danny Vercetti of Vercetti Enterprises in Doral

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Vercetti.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Danny. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
So, here’s my story just don’t tell anyone. During middle school, my math teacher, Mrs. Villalobos gave assignments for all the students to work on. I called Alex who was a friend of mine in the same class to see if he wanted to do the assignments together. He instructed me to head over to his house and we could get started. Unfortunately, I never made it there because on the bike ride over I was hit by a car. The paramedics immediately flew me over to Miami Children’s Hospital where I spent the next few weeks in a coma. During my stay the vice president of the company handling all of the construction for the hospital passed by, gave me his blessing, and wished me a speedy recovery. After approximately a month and multiple surgeries later, I was finally coherent and somewhat back to reality.

Now fast forward a couple years and there I am attending a technical school, studying to be an automotive technician. During my high school years, I ended up working for two dealerships one of which I hated and the other I actually liked. My passion for cars and critical thinking led me to a job where I not only could solve problems but also be around something I loved. I quickly found out that I indeed enjoyed working on cars but unfortunately couldn’t see myself in this line of work for the rest my life. Although I was an excellent student in high school, I still hadn’t figured out what I wanted to do and ended up applying to just about every university in Florida. I ended up getting accepted to a majority of the schools and ultimately decided on Florida State University. My conscious told me that this was the right decision but I ended up feeling rather unsatisfied as my calling in life was still unclear. This uncertainty led me to drop out and return to Miami where I ended up back at square one; working on cars. During this time, I coincidentally ended up running into the vice president of the construction company that had visited me at the hospital at a Home Depot. My recollection of our initial meeting was hazy but his was crystal clear. He offered to meet with me at his office to discuss my life and where I was headed. Several weeks later I was working for his company.

It was at this point that I finally felt like I had found my destiny. I quickly worked my way up the ladder from a laborer, to project engineer, to superintendent all the way to project & preconstruction management. Although I worked over 70 hours a week I still managed to attend classes and graduate from F.I.U. with a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management. After nearly seven years with this company, I finally moved on to another construction company where I was able to take on more challenging roles. My progression happened so quickly that I felt like I had hit a ceiling. My vision at the time was to perform real estate development combined with construction; taking a project from A to Z. I thoroughly enjoyed working at this new company, which felt like a family to me, but I made the decision to take an opportunity to work for a real estate development firm. I now had time to go back to school to not only earn my Master’s Degree in Real Estate but also acquire my sales associate license, community association management license, and general contractor’s licenses.

During my time at all of these companies, I met fantastic professionals who not only become friends but also family. I went through the highs and the lows, worked alongside the best in the business, but I always had a gut feeling that something was still missing. I worked well with those who were the best at their craft and were willing to go that extra mile, but soon came to realize that unfortunately their efforts would go unseen. There were several times where I knew solutions to certain issues and a better way to handle the process, but corporate politics would always get in the way. Deep down I felt that I could create the highest caliber company in my industry, not solely based on my experience and skills but also with my network of like-minded, hardworking, and likeable professionals who strive for the best. In conclusion, after working in the development and construction industry for over 12 years, I decided to branch out and begin my own firm that provides the highest level of both of these services by bringing together a team of top professionals.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting out as a young man in the industry coupled with my complete lack of experience, was quite a struggle as you could imagine. It took lots of hard work to prove myself and move up the food chain. My salaried positions didn’t necessarily reward hard work and accomplishments. This industry doesn’t have much of a training or educational program; you are as good as what you put into it.

As for beginning my own practice, that was a struggle in in of itself. There is a lot more to deal with than just building. As of right now, it’s just two associates and myself. There are no departments, loads of employees, a big office, or labyrinth hierarchies. We have to learn on the fly, from sales, to marketing, to accounting, and even delegating the direction of a company. Trying to make a name for myself has been one of the most difficult tasks I’ve ever undertaken. Personally, I think it’s all worth it.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Vercetti Enterprises was created in 2016 and focuses on real estate development, construction management, and general contracting services in several sectors, ranging from residential to commercial.

One of the areas we take pride in is partnering up with an owner of a property that is looking to a build or develop a new project and would like to bring the construction team together in the initial stages. To give you an example, if you own a home and are looking to perform construction to improve the home, our expertise and network will bring together the architect and engineers to create a design that not only addresses your needs but also building department requirements, constructability concerns, budget impacts, and vendor input. By performing extensive amounts of due diligence on the front end, we not only expedite the overall construction duration but also minimize unforeseen circumstances as well as stick to our proposed budgets.

The part of this company that I am most proud of is our ability to help clients who were initially either misguided or ill-advised by contractors and architects on their projects. Hearing positive feedback about our team’s knowledge and service makes it all worthwhile. When the people we work with understand that we are committed to their project from beginning to end, I can see a weight lifted off their shoulders. That’s why we do it, to provide an optimal experience and develop a foundation you can rely on.

What sets us apart from others is that we leverage our knowledge, experience, and relationships from the development arm coupled with our general contracting for the best possible experience and product.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was extremely competitive but also quiet and humble at the same time. I enjoy competition but mostly related to goals I set for myself. Today, to gain traction in my business, I have to step outside of my comfort zone and do things I normally wouldn’t to get our name out there. Much of this industry is relationship based and you want people to always keep you in mind.

As for my interests, I am pretty much addicted to reading books, listening to podcasts, and engaging on message forums geared towards educational self-help and business-related topics. My podcast list ranges from Grant Cardone, Lewis Howes, Secret Entourage, Andy Frisella with MFCEO Project, Seth Godin, The Good Dad Project, Order of Man, and Are You Being Real. My message forum list includes Secret Entourage, The Fastlane, and Bigger Pockets. As you can see, I’m always trying to learn from others how I can constantly better myself.
