Meet Cristian Arevalo of Miami Shores

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cristian Arevalo.

Hi Cristian, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into the coconut business began at the beach. Growing up in Southern California, I was a regular at Redondo Beach. I vividly remember many beach vendors selling popsicles, spicy mangoes, and pineapples. But one day, I thought—why not coconuts?

That idea stuck with me. I started researching and slowly invested in the essentials: an industrial Aluminum cart with all-terrain beach wheels, a high-capacity stainless steel ice chest with a built-in drain, and a custom-built cutting and serving station. After sourcing a “Thai-young” coconut supplier in Downtown LA, I was ready to test the waters.

On July 4th, 2022, I launched my first pop-up—and it was a hit. People loved the fresh coconuts, snapped photos, and were intrigued by the custom-branded shells that featured my logo using heat-press iron stamping.

Fast forward to April 2025, I relocated to South Florida and knew I wanted to continue—and scale—the business. With its tropical vibe and booming wedding scene, Miami was the perfect place to take the concept to the next level. I listed an ad on Facebook and surprisingly booked my first wedding—before even having a full setup.

With a bit more research and hustle, I invested in a fine 4ft birch butcher block table, a 9ft all white umbrella, a brand new 150 qt cooler, and all the tools needed to crack coconuts live, just like I used to. That first wedding was a success. Guests loved the fresh taste, the visual appeal of the branded coconuts, and the interactive experience of a live coconut station.

Since then, we’ve grown—and my amazing girlfriend has joined the hustle, quickly becoming one of our most valuable assets.

We’ve catered:

3 more weddings

1 baby shower

1 graduation

3 corporate events

1 birthday party

& countless branded coconut deliveries.

We’ve also partnered with local wedding planners, launched our own website, and are constantly working on new ways to elevate the experience.

Today, we proudly offer:

A full-service Live Coconut Station (perfect for events and weddings)

Delivery & branding-only packages for more flexible occasions.

What started as a beachside idea has grown into a memorable, tropical experience for events of all kinds. It’s been a true blessing, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to continue being part of people’s most meaningful moments and celebrations!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey hasn’t been smooth—far from it. One major strain has been the toll on my shoulder from manually opening hundreds of coconuts. The pain has gotten worse lately, so I’ll be investing in a coconut opening machine to help ease the workload on my body. On top of the physical grind, marketing has been another uphill battle. When you’re just starting out, no one knows who you are, and breaking through the noise takes serious investment—whether it’s paid ads, SEO, or lead generation campaigns. It’s been tough, but with passion we keep pushing forward.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I hold a B.S. in Business Administration and have spent the past eight years building a career in sales. Over the years, I’ve gained diverse experience across multiple sectors—including software, solar energy, and CPG/FMCG sales. Currently, I coach a team as a State Training Manager while also running my own business.

What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come since leaving my hometown. That journey has shaped me, and it’s my work ethic and competitiveness that truly set me apart. I’m someone who goes above and beyond, no matter how simple or menial a task might be. I take pride in everything I do, and I always put my best foot forward—because if I don’t, I can’t respect myself.

What matters most to you? Why?
On a personal level, what matters the most to me is my family, my grandparents. Also, I believe it’s essential to cultivate a sound mind and maintain a strong, healthy body. Taking time to disconnect from the constant noise of daily life and reconnect with nature is equally important for proper balance and clarity.

Professionally, I believe in dedicating time and energy to work that ignites passion and gives you purpose. Doing what you enjoy not only fuels progress but also brings deeper fulfillment.

Above all, maintaining a strong mindset in the face of adversity and uncertainty is crucial. It’s this resilience that ultimately sets the brave apart from the rest.
