Today we’d like to introduce you to Corin, Leah, Becca, and Hannah Wiser.
Corin, Leah, Becca, and Hannah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It all started with our mom Corin, who has a background in mental health counseling, a Masters degree in Education, and is the author of Matters of the Heart: A Guide to Living and Loving Your Teen Years. She made it her life’s mission to raise empowered women who have a deep sense of self-worth. Now, we all share that same collective commitment to empowering the next generation of women rises to their full potential.
As young women ourselves (Becca and Leah are 21-year-old twins and Hannah is 17), we’ve grown up in the age of social media. We know what it feels like to spend hours mindlessly scrolling, to be stuck in a comparison spiral, and to feel the ongoing pressure to look and be “perfect.” Womaze helps to counteract the often negative effects of social media: it’s here to provide practical tools to help people navigate life.
We’re so unshakably committed that Leah and Becca took a leave of absence from college to pursue Womaze full-time, our mom invested our family’s life savings into this app, and Hannah is a senior in high school juggling school and a full-time role. There’s no stopping us!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
When you’re running a company with your family, boundaries become more and more important! We all live together and, at the moment, we’re running Womaze from our house, so we’ve had to create different “rules” to help us know when it’s time to unplug and disconnect from work. After 8:30 pm, we try not to discuss anything work-related unless it’s urgent, and we make sure that we each have a bit of personal time in the morning before the day gets super-busy. Do we always follow these “rules?” Of course, not! But we have them in place and we do our absolute best.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Womaze story. Tell us more about it.
Womaze is a free app centered around self-empowerment for women. We say it’s like your “toolbox for life” because we provide tools for real-life experiences and emotions. We feature channels on mental health, body image, relationships, spirituality, career, and self-care.
Life is full of ups and downs… people are experiencing more anxiety, depression, and loneliness than ever before. In order for women to make the impact we KNOW we are capable of making, we first need to look at what’s happening in our own inner worlds. We created Womaze to give people practical tools and support in the good times, bad times, and everything in between.
Womaze is a purpose-driven company. We are here to create an impact, one person at a time. One of the things that fuel us and reaffirms that we’re on the right track is the feedback we receive on a daily basis. People from all around the country (and the world) reach out to share how Womaze has positively impacted their lives. At the end of the day, we all want to leave the world a better place than how we found it. In times that may seem confusing and uncertain for so many people, Womaze is that constant source of support and guidance in your life.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you were just starting out?
A part of us had absolutely no idea what we were getting ourselves into. We knew we were infinitely passionate about what we’re building and that we were unshakably determined but we had NO idea how much goes into launching a company. There we were trying to help others feel empowered and take care of themselves, while we often felt confused and feeling maxed-out. It turned out that this was the greatest blessing because we were sharing the tools that we ourselves needed!
