Today we’d like to introduce you to Chere Gilbert.
Hi Chere, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Luxurious Events & Picnics was created out of necessity. I always worked in law firms and administrative jobs but the pandemic quickly ended that! I was determined to find a way to continue to produce an income for my family along with being able to be present at home as much as possible.
The business began as a luxury picnic service. We created outdoor picnics on beaches and in parks. Because of the unpredictable Florida weather, we began to offer indoor picnics. A customer asked if we could decorate their hotel room for an anniversary and we accepted. The experience was amazing and we began to receive a huge amount of requests for hotel room decorations for anniversaries, parties, birthdays, newlyweds and more!
After going viral on TikTok and Instagram several times with our hotel room decorating, we decided to focus primarily on hotel room decorations. We are the “go to” hotel room decoration service in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami Dade county.
It has been a whirlwind over the past two years and we are grateful for our customers and the ability to service so many people on special days.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We’ve had a ton of challenges and obstacles! There aren’t many hotel rooms decorating services in our area. When we started, there weren’t any clear instructions on how to access your customer’s hotel room, how to work with hotel staff, how to unload our decorations into the rooms, etc. This was a tough learning process because every hotel is different, every design is different and every customer is different. We had to figure out a way to make the process as easy as possible for our customers as well as for our staff.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We’re a little extra and we’re ok with that! We specialize in creating over-the-top room designs for our customers. We’re most known for our balloons with hanging roses. It creates a romantic feel that is a show-stopper every time!
I am most proud of my community. When we started the picnic business, we didn’t have any instructions to help us get started. We just guessed our way through the process. The same for our hotel room decorations. There were not any resources available to answer our questions. We created a community of individuals who desire to start a business like ours. We provide support to them as well as free and paid resources to help them join into this amazing and growing field. I’m a “sharer”. I have always felt that there is enough business to go around for us all. I thrive off of empowering other individuals – specifically other moms – to go for it!
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
The Mindset Mentor is by far my favorite podcast. Mindset is everything. For the most part, I am an optimist but I am human and struggle with having my mind in the right place. The Mindset Mentor usually always gets be back on track.
I am currently reading Rick Ross’ book “The Perfect Day to Boss Up”. I’m a huge fan of the Boss! It’s amazing, straightforward and I’m loving it.
