Today we’d like to introduce you to Charles Laloma.
Hi Charles, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my company first as a Digital Magazine to capture stories that many do not see nor hear about in NYC. I also started a Basketball League for kids and film them as well as giving them their own Digital Magazine. As time went by, many readers stated that they wish that this could have been on a show. With that, I started filming my interviews and placing it on Youtube. As time went by, I was stop by an Internet Radio Station and was offer a spot to have my show on their station to be seen live on Ustream and on their radio station. About a little over a year the Radio Station Closed but not before I learn about having a radio Station and starting by on station called LDM Radio. Which we play Independent artist’s music and to give them a platform. Once they closed their door, I open my own Network and called it LDM Network. I took what I learn and what I wanted to do as a viewer and listener and put them together. I started a program to help kids learn about the media and have a voice. A program and show to help upcoming actors to show what they can do. Over the three years of opening our doors, we have made platforms for many shows. As well as going on Platforms such as Roku and Amazon Fire Tv and much more. After six years of having LDM Radio station, we became the biggest and most spoken about due to our Radio Show, Station and our LDM Music Awards, which is on our 6th year.
For the past three years of having our own network, we have received over 15 awards from the Mayor, Bronx Borough President, Senators and as well as Community and Business for our work.
I am still trying to reach my goal which is to have our radio station on FM Radio, Become a Non Profit and have a building of our own so we can help the community. To do that, we will need help and still hopeful that we will get it.
We also do things for the community such as feed the elder on Thanksgiving, Collecting Clothes for the homeless, helping the kids, Having music events to make them happy and soon we hope to feed and get them help in what they need.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to my goal has not been a smooth road. With being diagnosed with depression, anxiety and sleep disorder, it has been a battle. Along with that, there are times where we did not know and still do not know where will get money to paid the rent for our studio and to get to where we want to be. With the help of volunteers to help with events and to film, we are holding on. The love of what I am doing is what is pushing me on and helping me help others with Depression to learn how to fight.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about LDM Network?
Our Network slogan is “Your one stop place for everything” and we try our best to do just that. We are known for our Internet TV Station, Radio Station and community services.
To help pay for everything, we also have services such as: Printing, Event Management, Party/event planning, Photographer, DJ, Performers and more.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is many but the most that I think made me what I am today and that is a person that will never see something as I can’t and will look at it as I will try and make it or fail at it. As long as I try and did my best that all that counts. The memory will be the one that I won the Empire State Martial Arts Championship in 1987
