Hi Cemone, so great to have you join us again. For folks who might have missed our earlier conversations, can you please take a minute to briefly introduce yourself?
I’m Cemone, CEO of Out of Box Weddings, We’ve been in business since 2012. I wear many hats as most of us do, I’m and entrepreneur, mom, educator, and everything else in-between. My primary business is Out of Box Weddings and I recently opened an on-line boutique call My Everyday Chic Boutique. Out of Box Weddings is the premier luxury event and wedding design and coordinating firm in the South Florida area. We cater to the individuals who are too busy to handle the details of planning/coordinating an event specifically weddings . In the end our clients are confident, relaxed and excited about their day most importantly they are ready to enjoy the priceless moments with their significant other, family and friends. When I’m not planning weddings, I’m at home cooking and hanging out with family and friends.
What was your key driving force to become an entrepreneur?
I was fired from my job in destination weddings. I loved that job!! It hurt me to be fired once more. It was my third fire within a four year span and I was feeling frustrated. As a single overwhelmed mom of one and now unemployed I struggled with what I wanted to do next as far as employment. I hated the idea of working for someone BUT i needed to support myself and my son. It was in those moments of frustration I decided to go full throttle with my business.
How do you generate new ideas?
I love to write, I’m always writing and I always carrying a notebook wherever I go. For me ideas come randomly and I want to get as many of them down before I forget. There isn’t anything special that I do, they are very random and just come to me. I think it’s like that for most people, for me though I’m always open to acting on the ideas and I’m not afraid to at least try one.
Do you believe there is some sort of pattern or formula to becoming a successful entrepreneur?
I believe the key to anything even being an entrepreneur is consistency and having the desire to go the extra mile. It’s early mornings and late nights especially in the beginning -it’s reading books from those who have done it and done it well and most importantly is seeing the bigger picture despite what your bank account may say or what the naysayers say. You have to have faith.
What key activities would you recommend entrepreneurs to invest their time in?
Activities I recommend for entrepreneurs consist of, reading books on business, marketing and self improvement. Also, focusing on perfecting your skills, for some that may mean taking a class or becoming an apprentice. Whatever it is you have to be willing to invest in yourself and product/service and this is what is going to make the difference in the success of yourself and business.
How did you raise funding for your venture?
Originally I used money from my personal savings, and not shortly I received a business grant. It wasn’t much but it helped.
It was so great to reconnect. One last question – how can our readers connect with you, learn more or support you?
