Meet Pamela Spanu of Celebrating With Elegance in Wellington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Spanu.

Pamela, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After returning from living in Costa Smeralda, Sardinia in Italy to South Florida, I was recruited by a developer as Director of Personal Services. My role was to service the requests and needs of the residents in an elite condo in Boca Raton.

One of the first requests was to design and plan a black tie event for 100 guests. The social room did not accommodate a group of that size, so I covered the pool to act as our ballroom. It was beautiful, elegant linens and centerpieces, white glove service, 8 piece orchestra, clear ceiling tent that overlooked the ocean and more. Everything was to perfection. That is when I knew event design and planning was my passion.

I am affiliated with a luxury vacation home rental company that forwards their event and wedding requests to me. I search for the perfect location and venue according to the guest count and budget. This location can be in the islands, South Florida or Europe. I speak Italian so of course, Italy is my strong point. I recently designed an entire week of birthday events for a celebrity and 50 of his friends. This included everything from airport transfers, hotel accommodations, creating daily menus, décor, casino night, creating a different nightclub within the castle for each night of their stay, entertainment and outings to Paris. It was held at one of our exclusive 800-year-old castles near Paris. This meant assembling a great team of vendors located in France to assist me to produce a perfect celebration week. They were the best!

We all were on site from 7:00 am to 3:00 am each day, but loved every minute! Another perfect event. Each client is totally unique and you have to learn their personality as well as understand their vision of their event or wedding to be successful. It is not just about ordering centerpieces, booking the band and moving on to the next client. It is about caring for your client and creating the best event possible for them. They are not just clients to me. Many are still friends and keep in touch with me over the years. I love what I do from an intimate dinner for two, private or corporate event to a wedding for 75-500 guests and hope to continue pleasing clients for years to come.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I was never one of those planners who stressed if every weekend night was not booked. I prefer designing fewer events and dedicating my undivided attention to each client. The average budget for events and weddings dropped several years ago because of the economy so it made it difficult to produce an event with smaller budgets. But fortunately today it is back on track.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Celebrating With Elegance – what should we know?
I specialize in destination events and weddings here in South Florida and also Europe. I have lived in Italy and speak Italian so that is my strong point and preferred location for European destinations. I accept fewer clients which allows me more time to dedicate to each one.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Understanding the client’s needs and doing my best to accommodate them. Dedication is my success and not knowing how to say no.
