Meet Cathy Jugovic of Cathy Jugovic Orthodontic Consultant

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cathy Jugovic.

Hi Cathy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have been in dentistry for 40+ years. I started out as a “file” clerk in high school and then I worked my way through different important positions like, dental assistant, front desk, office manager then area supervisor before opening my own consulting business. I had so many systems and protocols that I had implemented in the practices I worked for that I felt the need to go out on my own and help other practices. Doctors are not taught business 101 while in dental school and that is where I come in, I teach them the business side of it. I found that I loved orthodontics so I specialize in orthodontic practices. I train the doctors how to be better business operators and I also train in different positions of the practice. I work with the front desk team members, office manager and treatment coordinators. There is a lot that goes into a successful orthodontic practice and I like to make sure that the doctors and team members have all the tools at their finger tips to make that happen!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting you own business is never a “smooth” road. There is a lot of trail and errors that you have to face along the way. But it has been 100% worth it! I started out with a business partner and after 8 years we split. That was tough ending that relationship but it was for the best and I have never looked back.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
As it has been said by a very happy client over the years…..I am boots on the floor! I don’t ask someone to do something that I would not do. I have worked each po0sition that I train on, so it makes it easy for me to train and work with the team members that a doctor brings me in to work with. I make sure to make a great connections with those that I am training and get to know them. If you know what their struggles are (even in their personal life) it makes it easier for you to connect and make sure you get the best out of the trainee.

I am not your typical consultant that walks in with a bible and says…”here is what you and your team need to be doing, see you in a few months” No, I sit down and train 1 on 1 with each person that I am brought in to work with. I don’t want to give too much information here as I keep what sets me apart from others to myself so as not to be copied.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
My personality, by drive for success not for my business but for the practices that I am hired to come in and work with. I want to see them successful as well. I am available 24/7 for my clients and their team members. I do not limit my time for others to get in contact with me to just Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm, that doesn’t work for most business owners and doctors.
