Today we’d like to introduce you to Casey Morris.
Hi Casey, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I found my field of digital marketing by accident. I had recently graduated from college with a degree in Mass Communications and Spanish and moved to Atlanta. I wanted to work in television, but this was during the Great Recession and there were very few jobs in the field.
I remember a college professor said, “You can never have too many skills.” I have built websites since I was a teenager, so I added those skills to my resume. I had taken an admin position at a company that had social media profiles but no one to run them, so I stepped in and put that experience on my resume as well. Before I knew it, I was getting calls and emails for digital marketing jobs! For the first time in my career, when I applied for jobs, I got immediate interview requests.
I worked in digital marketing in the corporate world in Atlanta for 10 years. At the beginning of 2020, I left my last corporate job. I needed a change of pace and wanted to try something different. I got certifications in my field and then started applying to agencies. Then the Covid-19 pandemic hit, and all of the jobs were paused. It was then that I found my first client: a family-owned business in Central Florida. I found another remote client in Boston shortly after that. With full-time remote work, I felt ready to make the move to Florida.
I established See Worthy Consulting in 2022. I help clients across the country with their digital marketing needs. I do everything from advertising to social media, create websites, design logos, write blogs, produce videos, and more. I have helped independent business owners financially support themselves with 100% of their business income. There is nothing more rewarding than that.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road was smooth until recently. One client (an agency in South Florida) had to cancel after two years of working together, so I scrambled to find replacements. I found one client on Upwork and another through referral. Another client is considering reducing their marketing efforts, so I am preparing for another big change.
I have always said that job security as a self-employed consultant isn’t much different than working for a business. At least this way, I have the freedom to work as much as I need to support my clients and my business. I truly don’t believe I would be where I am now without the connections I have made over the years. My friends, family, and former colleagues are my champions and regularly send work and referrals my way.
As you know, we’re big fans of See Worthy Consulting. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
See Worthy Consulting is a digital marketing consulting firm that was built to support small businesses. We are a one-stop shop that can handle all of the needs a business has to promote themselves online. Our full-service agency offers solutions for digital advertising, social media, website content and design, video production, graphic design, and so much more.
Whenever possible, we like to use a holistic approach. We see digital marketing as the whole picture; the website, logo & branding, digital advertising, and social media presence are all pieces of the strategic puzzle. Since we’re focused on working with small businesses, family-run operations, and solopreneurs, we’re used to working at scale. Whether someone has been in business for decades or is just getting started, we can create a custom package that works for them.
Things that set us apart:
Our prices are based on fair market rates. We’ll never try to sell something that won’t work for a client’s business. We work hard to reduce the digital advertising cost per result—oftentimes to below industry benchmarks. We are personally invested in our clients’ success. We believe that small businesses are the backbone of America, and we are most proud of our dedication to delivering results for our clients.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Use your network of connections to help spread the word about your business. Your friends and family will be happy to support you, so make sure everyone knows about your business venture.
As a digital marketer, I knew what we needed to get started: logo design, a website, and a social media presence. These three things are what I recommend every business have before moving forward. They make your business look professional and polished and help establish credibility.
