Meet Carolina and Kathy Piedrahita of The Bottom Line Bookkeeping in Miami Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolina and Kathy Piedrahita.

Carolina and Kathy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
After working for several high-end companies for 17 years, we decided to venture on our own. What motivated us to start up our own company, was when Emeril Lagasse’s restaurant hired us as their “Staff Accountant”.

The interview process consisted of hundreds of candidates in which we were one of the few without a degree. This was the tipping point and self-booster we needed to start our journey.

The Bottom Line Bookkeeping was then founded in 2009, and since then we have acquired a diverse clientele, such as Investing firms, Real Estate, Restaurants, and Retail. My twin sister joined the company last year, and with her Business background and connections, she has contributed a great deal to the company, making it now a perfect duo!

Don’t ever feel like a degree can hold you down from pursuing your dreams. Although we encourage it, it does not define who you are, nor does it compare to real life work experience. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and accomplish your dreams, all it takes is a leap of faith.

Has it been a smooth road?
We experienced some rough patches through our journey with obtaining more clientele. Social media is wonderful for advertising but for our industry, it is hard to engage a greater audience.

We believe every struggle you endure in life is necessary to shape you and prepare you for the future.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the The Bottom Line Bookkeeping story. Tell us more about the business.
Most bookkeeping companies specialize only in providing financial data to their clients. We believe this is not sufficient to make insightful decisions about your business. Our forte is to analyze your books and improve your bottom line. We accomplish this by reducing expenditures and providing financial advisory whenever possible. We focus on visualization and financial data analytics to develop a system that works for you; so you are ahead of the game. We created an interactive financial dashboard that allows you to see beyond the numbers. This is what sets us apart from the rest. Our services include AP, AR, bank reconciliation, sales tax, payroll, cash flow projections, budgets, invoicing, & sales forecast.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I would like to take advantage of my sister’s Real Estate background and incorporate a service where we offer absentee owners a service to manage their rental property and at the same time grow our company. We don’t want to limit ourselves strictly to bookkeeping since we both have a diverse background.
