Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Reilly.
Brittany, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started Bohemian Groove two years ago in NYC where I am from. I became extremely bored at my job as a personal shopper in Manhattan and was looking for something that would be more fulfilling. I started seeing the idea of Food Trucks become extremely popular in the city and thought to myself how amazing that would be to do, accept turn it into a clothing boutique on wheels. I began looking for my Airstream which took a few months. I finally came across one and the renovation started within the following weeks. The renovation of my 1972 Airstream took about one whole year. The end product was this picture perfect boho traveling boutique.
We hit the road in New York and traveled all around the tri-state. We did multiple markets and pop-ups in CT, NJ, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Montauk, and the Hamptons. We arrived in Florida last February with the Airstream in tow when I decided to pick up and move from my home town (that’s the great thing of having a mobile business, it can follow you wherever you go.) Bohemian Groove is now permanently located in West Palm Beach, FL outside of Elizabeth Ave Station. We really could not be any more happy we winded up down here bringing all of South Florida the groovy vibes!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Most definitely not. I have a fairly new business model, there’s not many clothing boutiques in a 27ft trailer. I was actually the first Airstream boutique in NYC and because of this, I ran into a lot of issues with permitting, etc. But the biggest struggle was probably the renovation process. Our Airstream was in pretty bad shape and I never thought it would turn out the way it did. It was constantly stressful. From figuring out the perfect floor plan to removing windows, to deciding how much clothes actually fit inside, and remaining within our budget.
Everything basically changed everyday because there are a lot of things that you can not do inside the trailer. During this time, a majority of people doubted what I was doing and they didn’t really understand, especially since it was never done before. That was really hard, trying to defend my business when I didn’t have anything to show for it yet. However, the final product exceeded my expectations and sometimes I still can not believe its mine.
Bohemian Groove – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Inspired by the love of fashion, traveling, and above all creativity, Bohemian Groove evolved as a canvas for just that. The brand is an expression of all that I crave a — fun, fresh, and carefree lifestyle. Our goal at Bohemian Groove is to provide our customers with an eclectic mix of groovy, bohemian style clothing and one of a kind brands.
Bohemian Groove is for the explorer, adventuress, and the badass. She is feminine, innovative, and a little rough around the edges. The Bohemian Groove girl is never afraid to wear what she wants and is never conformed by society.
What sets us apart from others?
Our boutique is in a completely renovated 1972 AIRSTREAM. And let me tell you, it’s pretty darn groovy!
So, what should we be on the lookout for, what’s next in store for you?
One day, I would love to do a cross country tour with the Airstream, Stopping off in different states and doing pop-ups all over! That has been my goal since day one and hopefully one day that will happen.
Right now, I am really looking forward to attending this huge Airstream festival at the Airstream HQ in Ohio this May with Bohemian Groove.
I’m just constantly trying to grow my business and dress all the amazing women I possibly can!
