Meet Brittany Benson of Dr. Miami and E11EVEN Miami in Bay Harbor Islands and Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Benson.

Brittany, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It all started when I moved to Miami in 2013 to start my modeling career. I had signed with an agency on South Beach and needed to be closer for bookings and photoshoots. About a year after modeling, I realized I wanted to use my Bachelor’s Degree (Public Relations and Marketing) to some real use. So, I then got a position with the Miami Dolphins as their Human Resources and Payroll Specialist. To most people, getting their foot in the door of a professional sports team is THEE ultimate goal and dream. I was SO excited to have organically landed this position without knowing ANYBODY on the inside and strictly off of my work experience/resume.

Sadly, my time with the Dolphins came to an end about a year later and I was pretty sure my career was over. Until one day, I saw that some crazy plastic surgeon was hiring for a “Social Media Assistant”. I wasn’t that into social media back then but I knew could do this job, whatever it entailed. I went on my interview with them and got hired. This is when my life began to change. My job with Dr. Miami started off part-time just recording his surgeries on Snapchat and going home. It then evolved into me becoming the face of his entire social media and brand. Under my control, Dr. Miami’s social media grew to over 500k views on Snapchat and over 5ook followers on IG rapidly then to millions. And as his social media grew, so did mine. I was hurled into the social media world, now not only having to run his but mine, as well. Everyone started to want to know what was going on in MY personal life.

My personal Instagram had jumped from 900 to 100k+ in a span of a year or so. Dr. Miami and I became almost like a “social media tv show” that millions tuned in to see what surgeries and fun stuff we were doing daily. Because the social media was so successful, we then landed our own reality tv show on WEtv called Dr. Miami. Season 1 of our reality tv show has already aired and is still airing in other continents right now. You can also watch it on Hulu. I never knew how powerful social media could be. I then started to be recognized everywhere went whether it was in the US or other countries. About a year after we shot our reality tv show, I decided to continue my journey elsewhere. I then got hired to run the social media of Miami’s hottest nightclub, E11EVEN MIAMI. I have been there for about six months. I love it so far. My job consists of running social media accounts: @11miami, @11miamirooftop, @e11evenbrand, and @e11evenmusic.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I must say that this road was not smooth but worth it. Running social media sounds easy but it’s actually quite stressful. Curating compelling content, posting at the right time, connecting with your followers, retaining followers, etc. is much harder than one would think. Then, the more followers you get, the more “haters” you get. You are constantly having to deal with negative people that don’t even know you but want to try and bring you down. This goes for television, as well. People will watch our show and go straight to social media to either write their positive or negative feedback. You can drive yourself crazy reading all the comments people leave about you. We learned this quickly. You learn to get tough skin in this industry.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Dr. Miami and E11EVEN Miami – what should we know?
I am most known for being the one who “blew up” Dr. Miami’s social media and reality tv show. I am now a social media manager and consultant. I run E11EVEN MIAMI’s social media accounts and consult with other businesses about their social media on the side. I am obviously most proud of helping Dr. Miami’s social media get so successful that they based a reality tv show off of it BUT I am also proud that I became my own brand in the process. I think that is what sets me apart from others when I’m running other people/business’s social media. The fact that I’m an influencer myself, so I first hand know what it takes to make a successful social media account.

What’s your outlook for the industry over the next 5-10 years?
I see myself continuing to be a social media influencer and helping others with their social media accounts but I also see myself staying on television. Whether it is on a tv series, commercials or reality tv. I feel at home in front of a camera. I’ve never been shy and entertaining people has always come naturally to me. My whole life people have always told me I’d end up in the spotlight and they were right. There is so much more to come!
