Meet Brittany “Bebe” Howard

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany “Bebe” Howard.

Brittany, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
It all started in 2014, around that time I became obsessed with watching baking competitions on the FOOD network and as my interest grew in watching it also began to grow in participating. After dibbling and dabbling here and there with baking I decided to seek advice from several different family members mainly my grandmother Christeen Walden asking their opinion on if I should take it more serious after receiving the green light I decided to start baking more often, but it still was something I did in my spare time you know just for family friends and whenever I wanted to have some extra dessert treats around the house then it grew to be doing it for events, gatherings etc, but even then I never viewed it as a serious business it was a just get away from life and a tool I used to fight depression.

In 2017 is when I actually began to take it serious with the help of my Best friend/Business partner Leonard Owens Jr. we decided on a name, logo and started marketing on several different social media sites Then I lost my grandmother on June 28th, 2018 and everything halted I was lost one of my main supporters and inspirations was gone she was one of the main reasons I decided to bake so with her being gone I lost my passion for baking and put it on the back burner but as I spiraled back into depression I recall hearing her voice telling me “Bebe don’t you give up, don’t you quit” that’s when I realized that even in the afterlife my Grandmother was still my biggest fan and inspiration from that day forward I’ve dedicated everything I do to her and she lives thru me and my baking.

Has it been a smooth road?
Honestly It’s been smoother than I thought the main thing I’ve struggled with (besides losing my grandmother which was and still is my main inspiration) was ignoring the negativity from naysayers some family some friends and overall not having the confidence to actually start my business and even after starting I had to build up the confidence to network and market my business.
