Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Abion.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was born and raised in the Philippines and left at the age of 6. I was raised in humble beginning mostly in the jungle with my mother, aunts, and grandmother. After being brought to the states through my step-dad who was in the military, I soon joined the military and am still currently serving 11 years. My first business was in building high horsepower vehicles and as successful as it was in the beginning, it failed within a year. After suffering through that loss, I realized what brought me success through that business was film-making, so I went through that avenue instead, and I believe I truly found my calling.
Please tell us about your art.
I create films that touch on the topics of other artists inspiration of the mind and capturing a feeling or emotion so convicting that it must be shared.
My inspiration behind it is my 4-year-old son who lives in California. It’s hard to see it as a blessing at times, but I give it everything I have to show him the past, present, and future. The past being what was, the present being everything you can make it to be, and the future being the inspiration to connect the dot to.
I am able to express my personal emotions through each video and hopefully bring that to the viewer as well. My mission is to captivate my audience with something so mesmerizing that It leaves them feeling something long after the video is over.
My artwork currently is based on the now. What’s real, what’s genuine, and not what you can read off of a script. I take pleasure in capturing the moments where people are at their happiest.
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
Execution.
Like Gary Vaynerchuk said “We can get a s***load of people in a room and come up with ideas and they could all be good. But if you don’t execute on them, it’s pointless.” or something along those lines.”
I believe its a leveling up process. First you have to come out of your shell and believe in your work, then create an avenue for others to believe in it (social media, magazines, portfolios, etc.), then get past the “I don’t feel like it today.” mentality and do it everyday, then execute on living this dream as an artist.
Just do it.
Stop talking.
Start doing.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
