Meet Brianna McBean of Bri Marie Hair in Pembroke Pines

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna McBean.

Brianna, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am the owner of ”Bri Marie Hair LLC”. I began my hair venture shortly after graduating high school in 2018. I always knew I wanted to be a business owner; however, I truly never thought I could bring my dreams to reality. Initially, I was set to be sent off to Texas for basic training for the U.S. Airforce, although that wasn’t my passion. During this time, I was in a constant wave of being swayed by what people thought would be best for me rather than having faith and trusting that God will allow my dreams to come to a reality. When I declined the offer of going, I knew I had to begin to get the ball rolling. I felt like this was the ultimate test of faith, to decline what could ultimately be the greatest decision or the worst decision of my life. I love taking risks, and that very decision is what brought me to where I am today.

My journey truly began January of 2019 after months of practicing. I decided to take the step of becoming licensed. I applied to a local school to become certified. The program was only a year and I knew it was a sacrifice, but I decided to enroll anyway. I was doing hair out of my garage during this time. My days consisted of early mornings and late nights. All and all a roller coaster of emotions because of my fear of the unknown. As my clientele began to grow, I knew I was moving closer and closer to my goal. By mid-February, I received an offer to work out of a barbershop. I was only a few months in so this offer definitely caught me by surprise. The space was beautiful and I was so excited to see what this new venture could be for me. After accepting, this is when my life took a turn for the better. I knew that with this new journey, it required a new me. I worked anywhere from 12-14 hours a day. During this time of being a full-time cosmetology student and a full-time hairstylist, it wasn’t easy but I never got discouraged. Due to my diligence, in a span of 1 year my clientele tripled, I went from 100 followers on Instagram to well over 15,000 followers in a span of 11 months, I had the honor of servicing celebrity clientele, earning my cosmetology license, and creating life long friendships. I know that this is the only beginning of what is going to be the most rewarding journey of my life.

Above all, I would like to Thank God. Without him, this whole journey would be impossible. I would like to give credit to Kike, the owner of Ace of Fadez Barbershop. This opportunity he presented to me was just a stepping stone to beginning my venture and I will forever be grateful for his guidance. I would like to thank my best friend Charissa for always standing by my side as well as my family and friends for your endless support. My heart is full with gratitude and being only 19 and a successful business owner, the sky is the limit for anyone. Believe in you and do you.

Has it been a smooth road?
The journey definitely wasn’t easy. Success isn’t easy. Not everyone is going to believe in you, not everyone is going to support you, but you have to keep your eyes on the prize and stay tunnel visioned. My ultimate struggle had to be constantly burning myself out. I wanted it so bad I never decided to be patient. I never said NO. With that very struggle, it was a blessing and a curse. A blessing because I advanced rather quickly and a curse because you can’t rush success. My advice would be to sit back and enjoy the journey. Your time will come.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Bri Marie Hair story. Tell us more about the business.
My business specializes in hair braiding. I’m known for doing crazy and articulate designs. Most people praise my work for being so neat and precise. Many say it looks like I use a protractor to make my parts so perfect. What separates me from others is that I’m a perfectionist. I will start the hairstyle all over again if I’m not satisfied. I’m very articulate and I value details. I’m mostly proud of my persistence and pushing myself to be greater day by day. I never get comfortable.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I usually like to keep this part secretive. Although I’m certain in a few years, I will be in a completely different space. I always tell myself if I reached levels I didn’t think I could in a span of a few months, I can only imagine five years from now. It will be epic.
