Meet Brandon Gil of Gil Ventures in Miami Lakes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Gil.

Thanks for sharing your story with us, Brandon. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Being lifetime athletes, my parents raised my brother and me in sports knowing the character-building that came along with it. This led to a four-year Division I baseball scholarship at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock – an interesting transition from Hialeah/Miami Lakes. The experience of being a student-athlete away from home opened my mind and provided many learning experiences that I carry with me today. My background has developed me into a passionate competitor with a distinct work ethic. It has also taught me how to be a conscious leader, teammate, and listener.

After returning to Miami, I had a stint of corporate positions with Fortune 500 companies but felt I could not accomplish my aspirations down that path. I then decided to hyperfocus on growing startups. After three years of successfully helping startups scale, I wanted to challenge myself by opening Gil Ventures – a holding company for private and public companies that use innovation enhancing the human condition through AI software, hemp, and other emerging concepts

Gil Ventures launched its first company, Gil Marketing, in 2017. Gil Marketing is a full-service online solutions firm that develops and grows the online presence of businesses from startups to publicly traded enterprises. We consolidate multiple components of digital marketing into a customized strategy that generates lifetime customers for businesses using:

-Social media design and management
-SEM (Google Ads, PPC)
-Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
-Content Creation and Marketing
-Blog writing
-Web optimization
-Email Marketing
-Ambassador/affiliate marketing
-Sales optimization and attribution

We now carry a team of 33 specialists that bring a solution-driven approach towards each situation presented with persistence, patience, and analysis. The accomplishments of companies under Gil Ventures include helping develop a HIPPA compliant software that was awarded a patent, providing alternative medicine derived from hemp into the hands of those that need it, and successfully completing projects in blockchain development.

Thankfully, Gil Ventures has been featured on publications such as Yahoo Finance and Business Insider. I have also had the opportunity to feature as a speaker and panelist for mastermind events in the cannabis, marketing, and tech industries.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This has not been a smooth road, but I have learned to recognize when things aren’t working out, analyze the situation, and make an adjustment without fear. Although I was doing what I loved, being a full-time student-athlete is taxing on your body, mind, and spirit. You have coaches and professors pushing you to be your best every second you are awake. I was gifted with talent and physical ability, but I always had to work hard to fight for a spot on the roster.

My first start-up was with two other partners, where we bootstrapped a digital agency to grow every month for three years straight. I encountered first time experiences in every aspect, which forced me to grow as a better businessman and human. I left my company to pursue my own firm in line with my goals. This led to another  three year process to get my businesses to where I am today. In this time, I have missed rent payments, many meals, and lived paycheck to paycheck while structuring to scale.

On this road, I have invested in the wrong people, didn’t protect myself in past contracts, and lost tens of thousands of dollars towards the school of hard knocks. Every experience was a learning lesson and I made sure every dollar lost helped save $10 in the future.

What are you most proud of from Gil Ventures?
I am most proud of operating with integrity from myself down to my team. I am also proud that I have the ability to really impact people in different ways with my intent and assets.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
One of my favorite memories as a child is making the rounds at our family-owned gas stations with my dad at four in the morning. He was the first to come in and the last to get out. This is why I oddly get nostalgic at the smell of gasoline.
