Today we’d like to introduce you to Boiiwonderz.
Hi Boiiwonderz, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I’ve been exposed to paint since I was a kid. As a contractor, my dad would take my brothers and I to work almost every summer of our youth. Watching my dad bring these complex designs to life helped me understand the process of bringing something to life from scratch. By the age of 11, I was already a master at painting walls. I’ve been an artist all my life and it took a whole lot of twists and turns to realize I can make a career out of this.
I took college-level art classes during high school. Up until my sophomore year of college, I was dedicated to hyper-realistic drawings, but cartoons were the one thing you couldn’t take away from me. As I got older, more studying went onto all genres of cartoons and styles in the art world. At this point, art is all I ever knew.
The brand started out the moment I decided to release myself from the shackles of customer service. In 2016 I decided to give this life a shot. Boiiwonderz was born out of love for the one thing that I never questioned and in due time, I developed my own sense of style which I’d like to think it’s still evolving. I’ve been fortunate enough to have the support and love all over my projects. The dream is getting closer and closer to reality every day.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There has been a crazy load of struggles. Not only with work itself but your own psyche. A lot of self-comparison led to a toxic mentality. But it’s how you decide to face it that determines the outcome. The biggest struggle in my experience was finding my own personality in the craft. These days I like to think I’ve found my sense of style which I can proudly voice.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I think what sets me apart from the rest is you can really feel the energy I put into all my pieces. A cocktail of lowbrow and street art, if you will.
I’m made up of different components grasped throughout the art I grew up studying but still found a way to make it solely mine. I use a blend of spray paint, acrylic, and paint markers to create psychedelic, feel-good pieces. An ode to cartoon culture and street art.
I love birthing ideas onto canvases. Recently I decided to experiment with wood and make different shaped cut-outs to bring my pieces alive. I love bright colors and the incorporation of rainbow-themed everything. This is now, but who knows where my creativity might take us next.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Most people who follow boiiwonderz aren’t aware how versatile I really am as an artist. My creativity is endless. It goes beyond just a paintbrush and canvas. I’ve played with all forms of art. From pencils to markers, clay to wood and furniture. I’ve even dabbled in animation and live installations. I have a foundation rooted in classic art that has carried me to many different playing fields. I love being able to explore different creative outlets.
If I can imagine it, I can bring it to life.
