Meet Bency Laurent of Zulieswim

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bency Laurent.

Hi Bency, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been creative, and fashion became one of the ways I expressed that. My journey started as a model, but over time, I found myself drawn to the creative side of the industry. In 2018, that passion led me to create ZulieSwim and eventually bring my own vision to life.

For me, this chapter represents the return of Bency Laurent—from runway to collections, which is why my very first collection when I relaunched Zulieswim is called “Renaissance.” It represents rebirth, growth, and becoming. I had to become her, while still becoming every woman I’m called to be in this lifetime. ZulieSwim has given me the space to express every version of who I am and who I’m becoming.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but every challenge has contributed to the entrepreneur I am today. I’ve never been afraid to start over, and I consider that as one of my greatest strengths in business. Whether it meant walking away from contracts, partnerships, or agreements that no longer aligned with my vision, I’ve learned to trust my instincts and make the decisions that are right for the brand. Looking back, those moments didn’t set me back—they positioned me for what was next.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Zulieswim?
ZulieSwim is more than just swimwear. At its core, the brand is about confidence, femininity, self-expression, and the freedom that comes with escape. What sets ZulieSwim apart is the storytelling behind it. I don’t just design swimwear—I create pieces with their own identity, emotion, and visual world. From the designs to the campaigns and creative direction, every detail is intentional, and each collection carries its own mood and purpose. I’m most proud of how the brand continues to evolve while still feeling authentically ZulieSwim. I want people to experience it as more than swimwear; it’s a lifestyle, a feeling, a whole mood and an invitation to escape in style.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love most about Miami is the the weather, the energy and the culture. There’s something about the sunshine and being close to the water that keeps me inspired. Fashion, creativity, and lifestyle naturally come together here, which makes it a great place to build a brand like ZulieSwim. If I had to choose one thing I like least, definitely the traffic but I think every great city comes with a little chaos.
