Meet Aspri Frank of Leionia Free Productions in West Palm Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aspri Frank.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Growing up, I always did exceptional well on writing assignments in school and I just loved to write. I also had a love for reading, I was a bit of a book worm. Writing was magical to me in how I could put my thoughts on paper a create a story, but I never thought of my writing turning into a career. Well! That all changed during my junior year in college in my Creative Writing class. We were a given writing assignment to make-up a story of any kind and present it to the class. I remember the night before the assignment was due, I just sat on my bed and started writing and my hands wouldn’t stop, next thing I knew I had five (5) pages of a make-believe world. I just placed my pen down in awe of what I wrote. I remember being extremely nervous because I don’t like public speak on top of reading something I wrote.

I thought they would hate it or judge me, but when I stood up and read what I wrote by the time I looked up all eyes were on me. The students in the class eyes were so big as they looked at me, I thought great they hate it but they all began cheering for me and saying how amazing it was. After class, my professor asked me to stay and asked me what my major was, which was elementary education at the time, he then asked me if I ever thought about taking my writing serious, I said no it’s just something enjoying doing. He said that I truly needed to think about being more serious about it. I was shocked because that’s was the first time a teacher truly cared about what I was going to do with my life. I then started writing poems and short stories but never published them. I was going through a hard time in my life and became a single mother and was consumed in my pain which caused me to stop writing altogether. I didn’t finish college and I began working at the school my daughter attended and honestly, the only way I made it out of my depression was through God. I owe it all to him he saved me from myself.

Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely was not a smooth road. I had a lot of self-reflecting to do. I believe in order to move forward with anything that you want to do the rest of your life you need to make sure you are rooted. You can’t build your house on sand because it will eventually fall. To me, I had to become stronger with my relationship with Christ in order to do what he wants me to do with the gift he blessed me with. Also developing a plan and funding my project was not easy, I had to move back in with my parents with my daughter and they helped me with funding this movie as we know making a movie is not cheap, but if you fail plan you plan to fail.

Leionia Free Productions, LLC is a new company that was developed to provide employment opportunities and experiences for men and women that are interested in pursuing a career in Films. We are committed to being a voice for the voiceless and a beacon of light. Currently, we are producing an original film that examines and dramatizes how Emotional and Physical abuse impact and affect Victims’ lives and relationships. Life becomes a Series of “Twists”, “Turns”, “Highs” and “Lows” where Sometimes; Ultimate Survival, becomes a Choice between Life and Death!

I am so proud of all that we have accomplished in such a short period of time and the amazing people we met on our journey. I am able to do what I love while helping so many people. We are a company that is united with different ethnicities we do not discriminate at all. We are able to come together and have fun while working. I love that we are able to go into the community and help our kids better themselves. There is a lot of unseen talent that gets looked over here in Palm Beach and I want to reach my hand back out and bring them up with me. I’ll never turn my back on those who need my help, why have a platform if you don’t use it to help others.

We are bringing Hollywood to South Florida by making films that are inspiring, uplifting and at times humorous. We are also bringing up topics that have plagued our community to provide hope and bring these situations to the forefront.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I believe we can start here. Not only is there a film tax break which helps to reduce cost for filming, but this is our home why not start here where the youth can get inspired and know that if we can do it, they can do it too. There is also beautiful scenery here. The Palm Beach Film Commissioner’s are really helpful with securing permits and resources. The only downside is that the media does not really spotlight New companies in the area.
