Meet Asia Vincent of IAmDiorStylez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Asia Vincent.

Asia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have loved hair for as long as I can remember, being a woman OUR HAIR IS OUR LIFE!! As a young female growing up my mother always made sure my hair was done! Whether it was braided up or my real hair permed and wrapped my appearance was always up to part… Around last year October, I came up with the idea of opening a hair business where I would sell hair extensions of all kinds even throw in some lashes as a customer appreciation.

During my process of investing and building my brand, my family endured a great tragedy with the death of my brother Isaiah Webster. My brother kept me on my feet he was literally the only man I looked up to in life I never wanted to please and make anyone proud but him not even my parents it may sound strange but he gave me my hustler mentality. Always made sure I was out working and not in need of anything!

After his death I felt completely down and felt like giving up on my hair business, you know it’s hard to stay positive when pain is running deep. A few months passed by and I was given the opportunity that changes my life forever! My brother’s ex-girlfriend is a celebrity hairstylist Phase Marie @AlluringHands_ and she gave me a 1on1 class I already knew the basics of how to do hair, but during her class, she taught me how to perfect my craft! She made me see being a hairstylist from a different point of view. There were nights I wanted to cry and just give up because I felt like I couldn’t t get certain things right I use to always ask myself “ What am I doing wrong “ but all I needed was time and Phase reminded me daily that everything will come to me as long as I keep up my hard work and dedication.

A lot of young people want to become entrepreneurs and business owners just for the money but there is no passion. Some weeks I don’t make a dollar but I enjoy every bit of sitting down with my clients and getting to know them. My favorite part is definitely seeing them smile so big and bright once their hair is finished. The way they light up gives me a sense of accomplishment. For the past six months, it has not been easy but I wouldn’t choose any other career over mines. I love what I do and with my guardian angel on my side I know I can make it far and achieve everything I put my mind to.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The path to success is never easy nor simple. I’ve been through so many ups and downs that made me feel like this wasn’t the right career for me. I have had multiple complications with some of my client’s hair, I’ve even refunded some young ladies or no charge at all if I wasn’t satisfied with the quality of my work. Being a hairstylist is a learning process and sometimes things DO NOT come out like you expect.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am an upcoming Miami Hairstylist I specialize in Lace frontal wigs, full lace wigs, frontal installations, closure installations, ponytails, basic quick weaves, sew-ins, frontal ponytails, etc… for the upcoming year of 2020 I do plan on expanding my craft and I’ll be working on different braiding styles. I’m most proud of how fast I am evolving and how great my work is for a beginner.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is when you set a goal for yourself and you exceed it. Success to me is when the outcome is a whole lot bigger than what you expected. Once my schedule is fully booked in advance with serious clients every month then I will feel like I am successful.
