Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Glica.
Ashley, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Growing up in Buffalo, NY, as a trainers daughter, always had me pushing for the next level of my riding. Dreaming big and setting high goals to achieve was a regular task for myself. At 19, I had moved my horses and myself to Wellington FL to start my own adventure. Leaving home alone was a big risk but very exciting for me to establish my own business plan. As a couple of years went on in Florida, my training business continued to grow. My facilities also needed to grow. I had relocated a few times and now have a very established business in Loxahatchee, FL working out of a beautiful state of art farm on a 10acre property. I also have built up an amazing clientele of dedicated and supportive people. It’s amazing what hard work and passion can do for your company.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Climbing the ladder has been fairly easy and smooth. I am good at reading people and choosing who to and who not to involve in my business. That being said, it sometimes was tricky on who to trust and who not to. My mom had a great eye for matching horses to the riders and I’m very grateful for all of the knowledge she had instilled in me. It really helped me start off on the right track.
ATG Equestrian – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My company specializes in Hunter/Jumper & Equitation horses. If you are not familiar with the horse life of Wellington, FL, it is the horse capital of the world. During the winter months, they host the largest run show in the country with many international classes offered. I have found my niche to suiting lovely horses to the rider/owner. Making sure of a long term fit that they can grow together and do the best they can as a pair. I also really enjoy and have had good results training young horses to being the best they can become, making them rideable by almost any type of rider and then reselling them.
I feel what sets my business apart from others is the customized professional atmosphere. With having 20 horses to focus on, everyone can get their time that they need to train and move along quickly. Also, not feeling pressured into only winning but achieving the client’s inner goals. What I am most proud of in my company is the growth I have made in a short amount of time. Having my quality horses and riders place and rank well with the top trainers, olympians, and owners. I am very proud of that.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
How do I define success? For me, I think staying on a structured regiment is key. Waking up at 5 or 6 am everyday and making sure your daily tasks are compete. I feel if you do not stay disciplined to your routine, you will not be able to be consistent. I also instill that in my students and riders. Not necessarily 6 am, but making a weekly training schedule, also having them work on exercises when we aren’t in a lesson to help build them up strength. Staying positive and motivational really helps my riders give me there all too.
