Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlei Lewis.
Hi Ashlei, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I am ASHLEI LEWIS, M.A. CRIMINOLOGIST, NEUROTECH ENGINEER, CERTIFIED INTEGRATIVE WELLNESS COACH in NEURO-LINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING, EMOTION-FOCUSED THERAPIES, HYPNOTHERAPY. I am a researcher who is enthusiastic about learning more about balance and alignment. I’m determined to go the route of excellence and service. By providing life experiences, useful resources, and spiritual guidance to align one’s divine existence, authentic meaning of their life’s purpose through the power of awareness, intimacy, and trust, I assist those whose calling is to be transformers and change-makers in our world in achieving a clear vision for their lives. When I was a student at the University of Southern Mississippi, I conceived the idea for my undergraduate thesis, “Disclosure writing with the Use of Manipulating Instructions,” which is how I got my business off the groundThe purpose of this study was to examine the effects of writing about both happy and negative life experiences on one’s mood and healing process. I’ve always relied on writing and the media to help me get through life’s challenges. We have instant access to media in our modern environment. I intended to further merge my interests in neuropsychology, trauma, and media after finishing my thesis. The global pandemic knocked me off my feet as it came at us like Armageddon. After finishing my undergraduate studies and before beginning my doctoral studies, I explored my own passion and changed my focus to technology. Working with the labs at my university in Comparative Cognition and Communication as well as Social Psychology has given me a variety of research experience. I wanted to pursue my curiosity further. I have previously concentrated on digital media, particularly video and movies. Combining these platforms with my passion for psychology gave me the idea to explore how people perceive moving images in relation to virtual reality. In the midst of a global shutdown, while experimenting on myself with homemade technologies, I began to wonder, “How can I make a difference in this world?”
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For me, it has not been an easy journey. For one thing, a global pandemic gave birth to Abundntli uniVRcity. One consequence of the pandemic was that everyone was required to spend a lot of time at home. For my startup company and I, this had both good and terrible effects. A young man I met wanted to learn more about technology and research by use his coding skills to assist me with my project came on board. The fact that he resided abroad, and everything was conducted digitally was a benefit. However, the funding was lacking because I had been laid off my graduate assistantship when the university closed, my savings had been depleted, I was back living at home with my parents after losing everything I had- my job, car, and apartment. I still I had these lofty aspirations with Abundntli uniVRcity. We are basically bootstrapping and believing in a wonderful product that will eventually fund itself; like other firms at the time, we don’t have a cash cushion and can’t endure an extended economic downturn.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

Our capacity to collaborate across disciplines is what I am most proud of in terms of our brand. None of the people I work with are interested in taking over. They are aware of the goal and wish to contribute their knowledge to help the cause. Abundntli UniVRcity prioritizes the well-being of the whole person, which is godly in that we seek to find the presence of God in all aspects of daily life. Whether you consider yourself spiritual or not, we think that using a holistic approach in our simulation will enable us to collaborate with all fields of study.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
I believe that people shouldn’t be discarded merely because they are labeled dysfunctional by social norms. I want to assist in their medical recovery. Combination therapy using virtual reality technology lessens the impact of PTSD symptoms, ADHD symptoms, and depressive symptomatology and speeds up their recovery. It’s not just about broadening the scope of brain-computer interface technology; it’s also about enhancing people’s lives by raising knowledge of psychological and biomedical factors. From constructing interactive educational programming to encourage individuals’ active participation to using neurofeedback therapeutic approaches with PTSD or ADHD, as well as neurobiological data-driven in-person communications widely used in the gaming market, neuroscience’s contribution to education, communications, medical science, and more has already been revealed. However, feasibility of combining EEG and VR in studying linguistic competence and trauma therapy in naturalistic environments can be further explored. This is what Abundntli uniVRcity all about. Currently, in BETA, we allow doctor’s offices to explore our tools voluntarily with participants as a preview. The do not get to use every aspect of our product but they get to visualize what the product does and its use. So far, there has been positive feedback by the patients in orthopedics.
