Today we’d like to introduce you to Anith Benjamin.
Anith, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was actually born in Haiti and came to America when I was five years old. I never really realized my struggling living circumstances but I stayed with family and I slept in the room with my mom and my brother. FUN FACT: I actually never had my own room here in America until I moved to Tallahassee for school. I attended the illustrious Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University a.k.a. FAMU. My journey to get to FAMU was not easy at all not because I wasn’t smart or nothing I was definitely a nerd, but I didn’t have the resources, the knowledge and supplies like most of my peers did. Despite my lack of resources, I still left to go to school which was the best decision I ever made.
After college, I knew I had to give back to students in the Haitian community. I wanted to create something where children like myself can get help with preparing for college, with getting resources and getting necessities for school. There are so many kids like myself that are struggling especially their senior year because you got to pay for test, prom, college supplies, and got to be able to pay for school. There are so many children who do not go away to college because they lack so many resources so because of that, I wanted to create something to reach out to those kids. And that’s when the idea of Golden Vie came from. Just a brief translation “Vie” in creole means life so the organization’s name translates to Golden Life.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
SIGHHHH creating this non-profit was not a smooth road at all. This organization is something personal that I created so I can give back but I realized that this is bigger than myself. I am currently the only person in the organization because I literally just got started. But even though the projects and events that I have planned do not go exactly how I wanted them to go. And even though I’m not getting as much financial support to help the number of students that I want, I am still able to make little changes in students lives, and that’s all that matters.
It’s tough now because Golden Vie is new and it is a very small non-profit but I know I am setting a great foundation for incoming members, mentors, and leaders.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Golden Vie Inc – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.

Any predictions for the industry over the next few years?
In 5-10 years, I see Golden Vie being the place that low-income students from my community go to if they want the necessary tools to be successful. I want to be able to reach more students in different states, providing large amounts of scholarships and sponsorship giveaways that can truly make a difference. I want to connect students with mentors, resources, and opportunities to be successful.
