Today we’d like to introduce you to Andreina Socorro.
Andreina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I became Doula because one of my best friends had a Doula with her 1st childbirth. She told me about all about the Doula profession and immediately I fell in love with it. A year later, I was certified Birth and Postpartum Doula by DONA International. Ever since, I’ve been helping families during the transition to become parents or to receive the new member, as well, I help them the first weeks with the newborn at home.
Being a Doula, it opens a brand new opportunity for me to grow in the maternity world. I am a certified Prenatal Yoga Teacher by Yoga Alliance and as an amateur photographer, I take birth pictures if the family asks for it. This is my dream job and I have to thank God for giving me the blessing to support and serve families.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I found trouble to get in touch with moms and families. Is being difficult to me to promote my services to the community. There’s a lot of disinformation when it comes to pregnancy and parenting. This is the reason why I’m very happy with this interview.
Please tell us about Maternal Growth.
Maternal Growth focus to serve and help families during the transition to become parents or to welcome the new member. We do that by offering Birth and Postpartum Doula services. To keep Mom active, positive and confident with her childbirth, we offer 60 minutes Prenatal Yoga private lessons. And after a baby is born and with healthcare provider approval, we have Postpartum Yoga private lessons as well.
Our recent service we add is Birth Pictures. Families will enjoy and remember this unique and marvelous moment.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
As Doula, I want to expand my knowledge in the maternity field by getting more certifications in order to offer a complete service to moms and families.
