Meet Anastasia Mironova of Islands of Venus in Miami Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anastasia Mironova.

Anastasia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
About eight years ago, I started doing yoga due to a severe case of scoliosis. At that time, I was studying fashion merchandising in hopes of one day working as an editor for a magazine or a buyer for a major retailer. I did yoga in hopes of strengthening and elongating my spine so that I could look “halfway normal”. In my eyes, I was deformed. What I got from the practice was so much more. I was 16 when I started practicing, and once I’d really gotten into it, I didn’t care about fashion anymore. I didn’t care about working at a magazine and discussing which dress was prettier. I dove deep into health, wellness, different types of therapies, and everything else that came with the alternative lifestyle of “namaste”.

Fast forward to 2020, my spine is completely straight. My gratitude for yoga and all it has taught me keeps getting stronger and more profound. I started teaching yoga two years ago which has been a huge blessing. It’s extremely rewarding working with people who have some sort of scoliosis show up as I find we are able to connect on a deep level of understanding, and I can provide great advice on how to balance out the curvatures and imbalances.

My inclination to learn has brought me to many different topics and philosophies that I get to share now through the Islands Of Venus podcast as well as the website where I share articles on health, alternative therapies and practices, as well as tips for a sustainable living.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
People often say that life tests you. Through those tests, you find out who you really are. Getting diagnosed with Scoliosis wasn’t ideal or pleasant to deal with at all. My choices were to stay the way I was or change. Be active. Try. Do things to see if they worked. There was no guarantee. At that time, and even today, not many doctors are telling scoliosis patients to do things like swim, do yoga or pilates. I feel blessed that someone told me. It changed my life.

I hope to inspire people with challenges like mine to never give up, never stop looking for answers. They’re out there.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Islands of Venus – what should we know?
I work with people who wish to strengthen their bodies and align their spine. I love working with people who have scoliosis, but I am equally enthused to work with people who wish to learn more about yoga.

The website is the landing page for all the things I advocate for.

The podcast is my latest project and knowing that I have made an impact of people fuels me to keep going. We talk about things you deal with in everyday life, share perspectives of inspiring individuals, as well as dive into more esoteric topics and philosophies.
