Today we’d like to introduce you to Anais Habbar.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born in Chile and raised in France. I am adopted and always had an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for all types of beauty (people, nature, energies). My father, an entrepreneur himself, encouraged me to get involved in business from a young age and made sure I worked hard. After following my passion for years and completing both an Aesthetic & Cosmetics and International Trade Master programs, I went on to work as an Aesthetics Manager in Paris.
Later on, I transitioned to a career in the cruise industry for more than ten years. I opened the branch company of my family’s business in Miami in 2009. For the last year or so, I have also been working on creating a new concept based on my passion for women to embrace their inner beauty through makeup, fashion & style. In addition of being a positive relationship builder, I’m married and a devoted mother of two boys.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. It was really challenging when I opened the branch in 2009 because it was right after the economic crisis. So, I had to work twice as hard to face my competitors already in place. Also, as I am the daughter of the owner, it was really challenging for me to work with my family even if they are working in the main company based in France. Sometimes, we don’t have the same approach about how to manage business. But it is also extremely nourishing to have divers’ opinions and it allows us to grow and work on our own ego.
Second, being a young woman in the cruise industry was not easy to handle as I had to demonstrate that I was worthy and doing a great job. Hopefully, I learned through the years that when you are looking to be validated by others, you are living according to their values, not yours. To not be judged is nearly impossible; what’s most important is knowing that you are in harmony with your core values.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about DL SERVICES – what should we know?
DL SERVICES was established in 2004 by Daniel Laine. Based in Nantes, France, we are recognized in the Cruise Industry as galley expert designers. Providing high-end services, our clients (Royal Caribbean Cruise, Carnival & HA Group, Norwegian Cruise Lines Holding, Disney and more) trust us to work on a large variety of projects. To answer the requests of the customers, we launched a spare parts department followed by a Life cycle system, DLOG and a web access specialized in marine equipment (Marine Catering Solution).
Since 2009, I manage our US Branch DL SERVICES USA, Inc. Opening this entity was a time saver for our clients for their spare parts needs. It created a stronger relationship with cruise liners. Our spare parts department works from both entities and is dedicated to giving the highest quality customer care. Having two locations, our customers have the option to receive contracted items either in Europe or in the US. The whole purchase process is simplified and fast.
We are an independent designer contractor dedicated to cruises, ferries and yachts. Since we created this unique service, we are the only company to offer customized designs and have no competitors worldwide in this sector.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The most important qualities to my success would be ambition, perseverance, be humble, treat people well and believe in yourself.
I always try to do things from love. Not for love. I love interacting with people and the energy exchange feeds my soul.
One of the largest benefits to being based in Miami is the ability to work with people of all ethnicity and cultures.
Consideration of people is the key.
