Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Plesent.
Hi Ana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Ana Plesent, I was born in Aguascalientes, a city in central Mexico known for its rich 18th-century and 17th-century historic buildings and culture. In the course of time, I migrated to the United States where I was mostly raised and spent most of my time taking on challenges, overcoming obstacles and originating new ideas. During this young age, I began developing my passion for entrepreneurship by working in marketing during high school for a company where I was giving away shampoo bottles and refining my skills. This event created a great impact in my life, because it helped me recognize my passion for interacting with people through socialization while giving me the opportunity to showcase my vibrant and charismatic personality. Through this job, as I began to act independently and make decisions, I was able to learn the importance of responsibility which I still carry with me to this day.
As I advanced to college to expand my horizons, it was then that I undoubtedly grasped the marketing world. At this point, I had secured a field marketing manager position for myself that allowed me to travel from place to place. It brought on new adversities, but I flourished and rose to this new dynamic. Traveling was demanding but having the opportunity to be a part of amazing ad campaigns made it all worthwhile, it taught me organizational skills that helped build and bring structure to my own company what is now known as Linking Events. Formerly, in 2003 Linking Events was known as Linking Promotions. I decided to open my own business which ultimately became an experiential marketing company. My spirited determination did not stop there, one day as I was driving with my dad, I encountered this beautiful plantation home in the Redlands, Fl that was up for sale. It was this yellow, big, old house with a barn and a large amount of land with beautiful greenery throughout it. I absolutely fell in love and decided it would be mine one day.
Soon, after a lot of second thoughts and receiving opinions mentioning it wasn’t a good idea, I decided to listen to my gut and bought this hidden gem that I transformed into an Eco-friendly event venue which is now known as The Pleasant Garden and @ThePleasantGarden on Instagram which I encourage everyone to follow. I truly saw the potential of this beautiful piece of land and saw it as a great business opportunity. It took a lot of time, patience, and love to get the garden to how it looks today. Being both gorgeous and welcoming, this serene area brings people together and it acts as a haven. Being an outdoor venue, it reserves the capability to host weddings, corporate events, celebrations, and wellness classes. I absolutely made the right decision in taking these grounds and transforming it into something great not only for myself, but for others to enjoy. If you have anything to pick up from my story, let it be to always listen to your gut and take a risk! You never know what could become of it.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
One of my favorite quotes is “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass; it’s about learning how to dance in the rain.” This quote speaks volumes to me. I have been through obstacles and hardships in life, but it has fashioned me to the person I am today. There was a time when I was diagnosed with a medical affliction that made it very difficult for me to do regular daily activities such as walking or even grabbing a cup of coffee. This was a burden in my life as it interfered with my business life and my personal life as well. Even though I was in pain, I still managed to keep my head up and persevered through it. This tribulation did not make me weaker in fact it lifted and made me stronger. After a while of being on medical prescriptions, I finally began to feel like myself again. I was back on my feet and ready to take on the world!
Unfortunately, another significant hardship took place. Not only did it affect me, but billions of people and businesses from across the world. This hardship is known as Covid-19. This virus had taken a big toll on me by keeping me locked away and not allowing me to grow my business at The Pleasant Garden. Even though I was on lockdown, I took this bad news and turned it into something good! I decided to work on the garden, and I used my creativity and innovativeness to figure out what I could improve and create. The garden now looks better now than it ever has. Whenever there’s an obstacle in your way, just remember that you could overcome it and create something great!
We’ve been impressed with The Pleasant Garden, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Pleasant Garden is a 5 acre agriculture garden in the Redlands used as an eco-friendly venue for any special occasion.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something that is surprising about me is I have a very elaborate skill set. I am known for being dynamic and diverse.
