Meet Ana Carolina Sucre of Acsu Makeup in Hallandale Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Carolina Sucre.

Ana, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Ana Carolina Sucre, I was born in Caracas Venezuela and my makeup story began a few years ago when I gradually discovered some YouTube tutorials. I could no stop watching them!! A few months later, I decided to take one on one makeup class; it made me realize how little I knew and stimulated me to keep learning.

In the summer of 2016, I went to a Master Class here in Miami (I still lived in Venezuela) dictated by three Venezuelan makeup artists (Gabyros Makeup, Tati Makeup Studio and Carla Beauty), where I learned a lot and told myself I could do makeup on others; while also realizing I had a lot to learn. At this time, I didn’t want to become a Professional Makeup Artist. I just really liked it a lot. When I arrived in Caracas after my vacations, I opened my Instagram Makeup Account and started to do makeup on my friends and cousins; little by little other people started to reach out and I began realizing I did not have the knowledge to do makeup on all types of eyes, skins, etc. but I did my best anyways.

Later that year (2017), I realized I wanted to become a Professional; after long research and thanks to my family, I went to Chic Studios in NYC for six weeks. I acquired an enormous knowledge about skin, products, techniques, work ethic, hygiene and so much more. Slowly I began falling in love more and more with the beauty industry in general and their products. I went back to my country to finish college and while I did it, I started officially working as a Makeup Artist. My clientele began to grow more and more to the point I did not have enough time to attend them all and began rejecting some.

My priority has and will always be my client. She/he needs to be happy with the results and feel her/his best with my makeup on. My goal is for my clients to feel beautiful and confident with my makeup on. I don’t try to change the face or hide imperfections. I focus on the skin looking like skin and highlighting everyone’s attributes.

On 2019 I decided to move forward with my love for products and develop my own. In a very naive way, I launched my first product (the AcsuSponge) and it went very good. Now it is my dream and goal to grow my product line with products focused in non-makeup professionals people. I want to focus in people that are always on the go but want to feel always beautiful and confident. I just graduated from college and moved to Miami in search of a better future and to continue working on my dreams and projects!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has definitely not been an easy path, although I cannot say it has been the hardest; I ran into the best clientele in the world! From a thousand experiences that I have had doing people makeup, I can count the bad experiences with my hands. For me, the most difficult thing has been to finish a career with a job growing without stopping at the same time, organizing myself and establishing priorities was very difficult.

Now migrating in the middle of a pandemic and starting from scratch in a new country with new people has cost me a lot, just like the world of social media, which I have been experiencing more in-depth lately.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am known for being a makeup artist. People love my job because how I listen to what they want and develop it on their faces. My clientele loves how natural and beautiful my makeup can be, how the skin always look like skin and they continue being themselves but better. Although makeup is my specialty, I also do lash lifting! And lastly, I have my own product line, which you must-have in your sights because soon it comes with very cool things.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I would definitely say, for now, preparation and good luck has played a huge part of my life and business. I don’t think luck alone can play a big role. If you have all the luck in the world but you are not prepared for opportunities, you won’t be able to see them so I can say luck, preparation and discipline have played a huge role.
