Thanks for sharing your story with us Allison. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Originally, a criminal justice major in college, I interned for Diane von Furstenberg and realized the fashion industry was more my thing. Fast forward years later, I was working for the Neiman marchs group in both Miami and NYC for numerous brands including Chanel, Dior, Vince and many others. After years of developing friendships with my clientele, an opportunity arose to start cleaning out my clients closest and alas, Samek Sells was born. I began taking all of my clients dislikes, into others loves!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Overall. pretty smooth, but as the little guy, it’s been hard to compete with the big brands. They have huge budgets for supporting their technology. But there’s nothing like good old communication from me, which you don’t get from the big companies.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Samek Sells story. Tell us more about the business.
Samek Sells specializes in designer consignment merchandise. We focus on accessories but will take some clothing off good hands if we feel they may move. We come to your closet, you don’t have to bring your closet to us! My customer service and availability set me apart from the big guys. Support your local businesses!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
None, I don’t believe in luck. I believe you have to work hard in order to have success. I learned that from my mother, who raised both my brother and me during her years of hustling as an incredible interior designer.
