Meet Aliesha Daise of FlyersByJanee in North Miami Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aliesha Daise.

Aliesha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born in Miramar, Florida and raised in Broward County. I grew up in areas that either make you or break you based off how you respond to the situations that arise. I was always bright as a little girl, excelling in school, and doing whatever it took to make my parents proud. We didn’t have all the money in the world but what we did have is a bond that was unbreakable. My family has pushed me and supported me throughout my journey, as I began to become the person I am today. Throughout high-school, I was always involved and trying to be the “good kid”. I played varsity basketball, football, and volleyball for Stranahan High school. I was also very involved with poetry club.

Upon graduating high school, I became the first in my family to go to college. While in college, I was also very involved; I did lots of service, has many student jobs, and participated in a lot of events. I was a dedicated member of organizations that helped me develop as an individual and unlock my true potential. These organizations include joining The Elite Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi Co-Ed Business Professional Fraternity, Incorporated, the FAU Section of the National Council of Negro Women, and The Xi Epsilon Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Becoming a member of such organizations have shown me how to make change in the world and be something greater than just myself. These organizations have taught me marketing skills, networking skills, time management, and organizational skills. I apply these skills each day when I work with a client. I can talk to people in a professional manner and still understand how to flip the switch between personal and business. By graduating at Florida Atlantic University, I became the first in my family to graduate college with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a double major in Business Management and Marketing.

Each experience along the way has made me into the person I am today. I am a mentor, a leader, a friend, and educated African American Business Woman.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road I chose to travel has been the complete opposite of smooth. There are so many obstacles that I had to learn from, being that I basically have taken on many challenges with little guidance. I like to learn and experience things on my own, rather than someone telling me the way and missing the lesson. School was difficult because every bit of energy was meant to be used to invest in personal development. I seldom had a breather or time to reflect. Life continuously moved at a fast pace in my perspective and I had to keep adapting to the changes. I often felt alone in my process of getting to where I am today, regardless of the many friends that I have made along the way. I struggled with finding mentors, with financial burdens, and even with just finding myself in a time where I felt that others had their life all figured out.

I graduated at 21 and before all my peers that I came to school with. I, in no way, had life figured out. It took me four months to find a job after graduating and that was when I was at my lowest. I lost faith in my abilities because I felt that other companies didn’t want me. At this point in life, there were no meetings, there were no classes, and there were no friends to distract me from me. I struggled with coming to terms with who I was and embracing my capabilities. I learned from these struggles and invested in myself. I started generating multiple sources of income, however, the one I am most proud of is my business FlyersByJanee. I do more than just flyers, however, learning from my experiences gave me the initial marketing talents that jump-started my business.

Please tell us about FlyersByJanee.
My company is called FlyersByJanee. I started this company in December of 2019. Recognizing that many people needed help promoting events and marketing for various occasions, I started my flyer business page on Instagram @flyersbyjanee. I initially used this platform to help people in the community with low-cost flyers that would also enhance my marketing abilities. I specialize in flyers, however, through demand I have learned to do alot more. People come to me for different marketing needs, regardless of if I’d done it before or not, my response is always “I can make it happen”. I love yo learn on the go and watch YouTube videos on how to create marketing content. I’ve done t-shirt designs, flyers, brochures, business cards, and even party invitations. I am most proud that my company is made by me. I can decide how and what I want to do to run my business. What sets me apart from others is my “can do” attitude. I learn fast and I won’t stop editing a design until I know my clients are beyond satisfied. I have low prices flyers and my turnaround time is fast. My slogan is “flyers: Simple. Quick. Reliable”.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would have invested more of my time into my developing my business, rather than working for other marketing agencies that didn’t meet my expectations. I would have invested in programs and training to learn more digital content steps and increase the quality of my content.
