Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Waldner.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I wanted to bridge the gap between new graduates and the ability to find a job in their field. When I was about to graduate, I abruptly lost my job. I was originally promised to transition from an intern to a salaried employee to marketing coordinator. About a week before I walked the stage to get my diploma, the company made a shift to outsource us. Afterwards, I struggled to find a job because my internship wasn’t considered “real” workplace experience. In addition, I realized that if I can’t find a job in digital marketing, what about my peers? I then noticed they were in sever jobs, babysitting, etc.
So, I saw a problem, but I also saw a solution. I gave my internship my all and was one of the hardest and most coach-able employees they had. As a marketing coordinator that would have continued. That was the solution: to create that company that taught and provided an opportunity for a secure job once they graduate.
I took personal and professional risks to help myself and my peers. I sacrificed close, family relationships, and I went out on a limb when it came to exploring the world of entrepreneurship. But I believed that it would pay off in more ways than monetary value. I was able to prove to myself, and those who doubted me, that I was more than just an intern who would follow directions and be no more than a number. In turn, I learn every day, I am inspired by almost every person I meet, and I work insanely hard at something I care about with people who motivate me every single day. Who wouldn’t want that?
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
If it was easy, everyone would do it, right? Smooth is far from how I’d describe my journey, so far. There is a bump in the road, daily. But I’ve found that is what keeps us motivated and on our toes 24/7. The biggest struggle along the way has been accepting, understanding, and handling the growing pains (as individuals and as a company). Thankfully, every month we have grown.
Because of that, we are constantly adapting, learning and planning to facilitate the growth. When constantly dealing with this situation, we have to consistently pull ourselves back and look at the company from a bird’s eye view. This helps us look at what’s happening in the present as well as look at the future and the best plan for outcome A, B or C.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the ADventure Marketing, Inc. story. Tell us more about the business.
We are a digital marketing company that specializes in website design, SEO and videography. Focusing on those three main services is what separates us from much of our competition; however, our creative edge is what truly defines us. My proudest moment thus far was recognizing that we truly add value to our clients. There are many marketing companies that provide templates of the services they offer because of that’s what the easiest way to provide high turnover. ADventure Marketing, Inc. takes ethics seriously and will only offer what is best for the client and their industry. I must also add that our team is by far the best, most crucial aspect of ADventure.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Our industry is going to be heading more towards video. Video is currently dominating on all social platforms. Social ADS have already taken over and within a couple of years, ADS will be taken as seriously as current commercial production. A person’s attention span is only going to shorten in the coming years (as trends have proven), and powerful video is going to be the driving factor of a company’s speciation.
