Meet Alexandra Jenkins

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Jenkins.

Alexandra Jenkins

Hi Alexandra, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’m originally from Texas, and I moved to NYC in 2016 to attend fashion school at FIT.

Began designing in 2018 by working under a wedding dressmaker. Have been designing ever since. I focus on high-end accessories and custom dressmaking. I specialize in gloves and bows at the moment. I am mindful of sustainability and find interest in creative directing for my brand.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It is not as glamorous as outsiders may perceive. Of course, creativity is beautiful, the goal as a designer is to express that and to perfect that. The design element should be functional and purposeful. I have faced many challenges as a designer… Technical, financial, and personal struggles.

A big struggle I have faced is pouring a lot of energy in and getting tired or burnt out. With age and experience, I have recognized the importance of breaks from one’s art. We do have to live other portions of life as well.

We’ve been impressed with Alexandragracenyc, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share about what you do and what sets you apart?
I specialize in bows, gloves, and custom dresses.

I’m different because I make unique products and consider individuality when I design. I make everything by hand, so it’s always a unique and thought-through piece. You can currently follow me on Instagram and DM me with any inquiries.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is being creatively free and having the ability to be happy with your work and life.

Success is using and strengthening your inner gifts to inspire others to do the same with theirs. And… Winning an Oscar for costume design.
