Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexander Tamargo.
Hi Alexander, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Alexander Tamargo and I am a professional photographer based in Miami, Florida. Soon after graduating from Florida International University, and after an almost 4-year stint with the Miami HEAT, I began my career as a professional photographer as one of the first South Florida contributors to Getty Images. As well as being a contributor to Getty Images, I specialize in photo shoots, fashion assignments, sports events, travel photography, and private events.
I have been fortunate to work with many artists, industry leaders, and corporate executives throughout my career enabling me to capture iconic moments both on and off the red carpet of people in music, film, and television. Over the years, my work has been featured in countless publications in the entertainment industry including Rolling Stone, Billboard, People, Vogue, GQ, and Vanity Fair.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Achieving success is rarely an easy journey, and most people encounter significant struggles along the way. These struggles can take many forms, from financial hardships to personal setbacks to professional obstacles. But it’s often these struggles that shape us and helps us become stronger, more resilient, and more determined to achieve our goals.
Enduring and overcoming challenges requires grit, perseverance, and a willingness to learn from mistakes and setbacks. I always like to say that the one quality that separates highly successful people from the rest is desire. The desire and passion to really work and grind towards whatever the goal may be. So has it been a smooth road? No. But that’s what makes it all the more worthwhile!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am most proud of the impact my photography has had on others, whether that be through inspiring and educating other photographers, or working with clients to ensure their vision comes to life.
I’m also extremely proud of the personal growth and creative development I have experienced and continue to experience throughout my career as a photographer. I believe the main qualities that set me apart from others are my attention to extreme detail and my ability to work together with my subjects/customers to ensure their extreme satisfaction. Simply put, I care a great deal about the work I put my name on.
We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking.
I believe that taking risks is an important aspect of personal and professional growth. Taking calculated risks can help get people out of their comfort zones and I feel that’s where most people thrive and grow. When taking risks, it’s important to weigh out all the pros and cons and be open and vulnerable enough to accept the result.
Successful risk-taking involves careful planning, research, and analysis to minimize potential negative outcomes. Every circumstance is different and must be assessed individually. Just because something worked out one way for something doesn’t mean that it will work out the same exact way for another. I say be brave and take calculated risks. Nothing can substitute experience.
