Meet Akeelia Thompson of Souled Into Purpose International

Today we’d like to introduce you to Akeelia Thompson.

Hi Akeelia , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
“I entered the world of marketing with big ambitions — textbooks in hand, a BBA on the horizon, and my eyes fixed firmly on the corporate ladder. I was that student who believed that if you studied hard enough and planned carefully enough, life would unfold exactly as designed. But life had other plans. I experienced losses that shook the very foundation of what I thought I knew about myself, my purpose, and my path — and those experiences became the raw material for my faith memoir, A Fall from Grace: Finding Purpose in the Pit. The title says it all: sometimes the fall is the very thing that positions you for what you were actually built for. Out of that season of rebuilding came two brands — Awesomeprez, my creative business solutions agency, and Souled Into Purpose International, my faith-leadership platform — and a body of work that spans brand communication strategy, student mentorship, and purpose coaching. Today I work with leaders and organizations across the Caribbean, helping them clarify their voice, build their visibility, and tell stories that actually move people. I host the Souled Into Purpose podcast, I organize The Becoming Conference Jamaica, and I hold an MA in Integrated Marketing Communication awarded with Distinction. My title is ‘Your Fave Creativepreneur’ — and everything I do is built on one conviction: that your story, including the painful parts, is your greatest strategic asset.”

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
“Smooth? Absolutely not — and I think anyone who tells you their journey was smooth is either leaving out the best parts or hasn’t gone deep enough yet. My road has been marked by significant loss — loss that stopped me in my tracks and forced me to confront the gap between who I thought I was becoming and where I actually found myself. There were seasons where the vision was clear but the resources weren’t there. Seasons where I was doing the work of building businesses, serving clients, and showing up for others, while quietly navigating personal battles that most people never saw. That tension — between calling and circumstance — is really what A Fall from Grace is about. I also had to wrestle with the particular challenge of being a Caribbean woman in a creative and communications space that doesn’t always have a framework for what you’re trying to build. There’s no neat blueprint for someone who is simultaneously a brand strategist, a faith leader, an author, and a conference host. You’re constantly having to define the lane while driving in it. But I’ve come to understand that the struggles weren’t detours — they were the curriculum. Every difficult client, every delayed dream, every moment of starting over became part of the expertise I now bring to the people and brands I serve. I don’t just teach strategy. I teach it from scar tissue.”

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
“I operate two distinct but deeply connected brands. The first is YourFaveCreativepreneur, my creative business solutions brand where I work with organizations and entrepreneurs on brand communication strategy, digital marketing, and content development. I help businesses and leaders clarify their message, build their visibility, and grow with intention — because in today’s landscape, it’s not enough to have a great product or service; you have to know how to tell your story in a way that moves people.

The second — and perhaps closest to my heart — is Souled Into Purpose International, a faith-based, non-denominational organization built for purpose-driven individuals, faith leaders, and creatives who are ready to step fully into their calling. We are not tied to any one denomination or tradition — our doors are wide open to anyone who is hungry to discover why they are here and how to walk boldly in that. Through coaching, personal brand development, podcast production, voice development, and authorship support, we come alongside people at every stage of their purpose journey and help them build something that lasts.

At the center of that work is the Souled Into Purpose Podcast, where I sit down with extraordinary individuals from all walks of life and give them space to share their soul story — the real one, not the highlight reel. We are now reaching listeners in 63 countries across more than 223 cities, which tells me that the hunger for authentic, faith-rooted conversations about purpose is truly global.

What sets me apart is the intersection I occupy — I am a communications strategist and a transformation coach, which means I don’t just help you find your purpose; I help you package it, position it, and present it to the world with excellence. I’m also a published author and conference host, so I bring lived experience to everything I teach. What I’m most proud of is the community we’ve built — people who came in broken, found their voice, and are now leading in their own right. That’s the brand. That’s the mission.”

What matters most to you? Why?
“What matters most to me is people — specifically, seeing them step into the fullness of who God created them to be. Every coaching session, every podcast episode, every conference I host is driven by one deep conviction: that there is purpose in everything, even the pain, even the detours, even the seasons that made no sense at the time. I want to continue walking alongside individuals — helping them find their voice, unlock their purpose, and pursue their calling with a spirit of excellence. That is not just a mission statement for me; it is personal.
I also want to be honest — this work is not without its challenges. Resources are limited, and building something of this magnitude requires more than vision; it requires a village. So I want to use every platform I have, including this one, to say openly: if you see what we are building at Souled Into Purpose International and YourFaveCreativepreneur, and it resonates with you — whether as a partner, a sponsor, a collaborator, or a supporter — we are absolutely open to those conversations. I am a young woman with drive, capability, and a God-given mandate, and I am intentional about building the right team around this vision.
Beyond that, I want readers to walk away understanding that personal branding is not vanity — it is stewardship. How you present yourself, how you tell your story, how you show up in your space — that is all part of living purposefully. When you align your brand with your calling, everything changes. That is the message I carry, and it is one I will keep delivering for as long as I have breath to do it.”
