Today we’d like to introduce you to Adriana Smith.
Adriana, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Today, I am a hairstylist and real estate agent in South Florida area. I was born and raised in Brazil, lived in the 3rd large city of Belo Horizonte near to Rio de Janeiro and Sāo Paulo. I graduated from High School and worked as an elementary teacher. After teaching for a year, I knew I wanted more. I had my sights set on bigger goals… At the age of 21, I came to America to full fill my dreams… I worked as a live-in nanny in Boston for ten years. I was blessed to find a wonderful family with three children who make me feel at home in this land of opportunity.
After my time with the family, I decided to find a more lucrative career. I put my self through Beauty School as I always had an interest in fashion, hair and make-up. In school, I had a great and lovely teacher who told me: “Adriana, if you want to be a success in this industry, start at the top and work in the best salon.” So that’s what I did. I loved Boston but I was tired of the cold weather.
So it was time to move again. I decided to move to sunny South Florida in 1999. I set my roots in Boca Raton. I quickly found a job at one of the top beauty salons in Boca Raton, with 68 full-time staff, I made my mark in the company, I started with sweeping floors and shampoo, and in no time I was ready for my own station and to continue my dreams. The company grew quickly from there and sold to a big corporation. Big corp not being my style, many colleagues and I moved to Salon Oasis of Boca Raton. As one of the top retailers, I was fortunate to win many classes and went to KMS Academy Santa Monica, CA, to further my skills and traveled extensively throughout Europe to many Global hair competitions, including Paris, London, Berlin, Stockholm, Vienna and Toronto in Canada. I am blessed and grateful for all the opportunity and experience those special events gave me to continue my education. It’s a lifetime of memories!!
Having been in the Beauty industry for 21 years working with the same colleagues is proof of my dedication to my boss and my clients. I am extremely dedicated and attentive to details. I am passionate about serving others and have been in the service industry my entire life. I find joy and satisfaction when my clients are happy with the results and refer me to their friends and family.
After 21 years in the industry, I felt I needed a new challenge and I saw the real estate industry as an opportunity that was calling me. While I am not leaving the beauty industry I am expanding my business to include real estate, I decided to take the estate license test, which was the hardest thing I have ever done. When I told my clients, they all encouraged me, they knew I would give it all to succeed. As a new agent, I interviewed with several brokers before I chose to join EXIT Realty Mizner in Boca Raton. I knew that this was the right company for me; everyone in the office was wonderful and extremely supportive of each other.
I am so excited I am able to provide housing opportunities to all my buyers, sellers and investors. You can be assured that the sale or purchase of your future home will be handled with care and professionalism. I’m learning the ropes… doing a lot of showings… visiting new construction developments and meeting property investors, it takes a lot of consistent work on prospects in the Real Estate business. I am here and so ready for the next chapter.
Has it been a smooth road?
No. I went through a lot… a lot difficulties times. The most important lesson I have learned on my journey has been to remain focused and be humble. These difficulties made me stronger and wiser for what the future holds.

My real estate company is EXIT Realty Mizner and I work out of the East Boca office. I work with a team of 75 agents and find I work with Buyers, Sellers, and investors. With my company, I am able to market Homes for sell using the newest EXIT Realty Technology to find Buyers and sell homes and this makes my happiness.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
With the current COVID-19 outbreak and the unsteady global economy, it is hard to predict but with the current interest rates at the lowest of all time. Now is the time to buy.
