Meet Adrian Garcia Solis of iHeartLATINO in Miramar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrian Garcia Solis.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Adrian. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I came to the United States in 2010. Since then I’ve been living in Miami area that I consider today my home. In 2006, I started working with Univision Online at Mexico City. Later on, I was offered to take a position as Syndication Supervisor in Miami and I couldn’t refuse to take that opportunity. Coming to US legally is something that I feel proud of. I love this country because is a place where laws work almost perfectly. I like to do things the right way so migrating illegally was never an option. Many people think that coming here legally is an easy thing to do, specially when the came illegally they think having a working permit is all what you need for success, but guess what? They are wrong.

Moving to a different country is maybe one of the biggest challenges that I’ve faced in my life. It means starting your life from scratch all the way. Find a place to live, new friends, places to go out, etc. Also it means learning again how to drive, built credit and buy all your stuff again. But at the end, nine years after all this journey was worth it. I’m proud to say that I’m a US Citizen since 2018 and now I can call this place home all the way. On the professional side, from Univision I moved to Telemundo and then I was freelancing on the media market for a couple of years to end up in a great job at iHeartRadio as Digital Creative for iHeartLATINO.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As I told, moving up to the US from Mexico is one of the biggest challenges in my life. The road was smooth but is a challenge to start everything from scratch. After living 30 years in Mexico City, moving to Miami means to change your shoes for sandals and make the beach your backyard. (I love that part). Actually I think the beach made this more easy. Every time I was stressed out, I just walk by the beach and the relief came instantly.

On the professional side I feel great, this country shows respect to education and diplomas. Here I feel I have a value because I have a college degree. Also working hard gives results, and you can grow up and go as far you want.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I’m a producer, a creative. My skills are video production and photography but more than an artist I consider myself an entertainer. I like to create for fun. I love when my ideas make people smile. I decided to work for the media because I think is the way to give “normal” people that works from 9 to 6 a moment of joy, laugh or fun. I think I’m a combination of creativity and business. I’ve been always clear with the idea that creating something that don’t get revenue is useless. Maybe its a capitalist way of thinking but that’s why I came to the US!

Right now I’m working for iHeartRadio Digital Team and Im one of the first pieces of this puzzle called iHeartLATINO, that groups the Spanish Radio Stations own by iHeartRadio on the US.

I work closely with Enrique Santos that is one of the most biggest radio talents in the country who is also the Chairman for iHeartLATINO. Let me tell you that this man is one of the biggest leaders I’ve been worked for in my life.

Do you feel luck has played a role in your life?
I don’t believe in luck. I think everybody is born is the same work and can create opportunities. Many people believe that you need contacts, money or a last name to succeed. I think that if you have those, you have an advantage, but if not you can work it out and create your own contacts from scratch. The limit is the sky, and maybe now with space exploration that limit is more far.
