We’re looking forward to introducing you to Marisa Disisto. Check out our conversation below.
Marisa, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is a normal day like for you right now?
Honestly, no two days are exactly the same for me, and I kind of love that! I split my time between running my bridal beauty business, Lustre Chic Beautique, and managing operations and admissions for a behavioral health company. So my day usually starts early with my work in the behavioral health space handling everything from Salesforce admin and user experience to managing call center operations, account workflows, zoom meetings, and running performance reports. It’s a lot of behind-the-scenes coordination that keeps multiple treatment centers running smoothly.
Once that’s handled, I shift gears into all things Lustre Chic Beautique. That might mean sending out wedding day timelines, answering bridal inquiries, sending and reviewing contracts, or coordinating with my team of artists for the upcoming events. No matter how organized I try to be, something always pops up – so I’ve learned to pivot quickly and keep things moving.
And of course, in between all of that, I’m also balancing life as a stepmom to a very energetic 9-year-old. It’s a full plate, but I genuinely love what I do – even when it’s a little chaotic.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Marisa Disisto, makeup artist, entrepreneur, and Salesforce admin juggling a very full and busy life. I’m the founder of Lustre Chic Beautique, a bridal hair and makeup company based in Florida. We specialize in creating timeless, photo-ready looks for brides and their bridal parties, and what sets us apart is that we’re a true team -not just a group of freelancers. Every artist is handpicked and trained to deliver consistent, high-end service that makes our clients feel confident and cared for.
Beyond weddings, I also work in the behavioral health space, where I manage admissions, Salesforce systems, call centers, and operations for a treatment organization. It’s a completely different world, but what fuels my passion is helping others and solving problems.
At the heart of everything I do is a love for organization, creativity, and making people feel seen and supported – whether I’m behind the brush or behind the scenes of a computer, building systems that help teams run smoother, clients feel cared for, and big visions come to life.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that always felt like I had to do everything alone. For a long time, I carried the weight of proving myself, trying to be everything to everyone – whether it was in business, relationships, or even my own expectations. But I’ve realized that constantly operating from a place of overdrive and self-sacrifice isn’t sustainable or necessary.
I’ve built amazing teams, systems, and support networks for a reason – and now I’m learning to trust them. Releasing that version of myself has opened up space for more balance, better boundaries, and more peace in the way I lead both my life and my work.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me resilience in a way that success never could. When things fall apart – when you’re overwhelmed, under-supported, or just trying to keep everything from crashing – it forces you to dig deep and find strength you didn’t know you had. It humbles you. It teaches you to listen to yourself, trust your gut, and rebuild with intention.
Success is rewarding, but it’s comfortable. Suffering is what gave me clarity. It showed me who I am when things aren’t easy, and that’s where real growth happened. It made me more compassionate, more resourceful, and more grounded – qualities I lean on way more than the confidence that comes from a win.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies the beauty industry – especially in the bridal space – tells itself is that being talented is enough. The truth is, artistry alone doesn’t build a sustainable business. You can be the most skilled makeup artist in the world, but if you don’t know how to run a business, communicate professionally, or manage your time and team, you’re going to burn out or plateau fast.
Another lie is that everything has to look perfect. The pressure to present a flawlessly curated image on social media creates unrealistic expectations, both for clients and for artists. Real weddings aren’t perfectly lit editorial shoots. Real skin has texture. Real timelines are chaotic. The constant push for “perfection” can overshadow the beauty of genuine connection and experience.
And finally, there’s this idea that asking for help – or investing in systems and support – is a weakness. That couldn’t be further from the truth. The artists and entrepreneurs who thrive long-term are the ones who build structure behind the scenes, set boundaries, and focus on both the client experience and their own well-being.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say I showed up fully in both my personal life and my work. That I made people feel taken care of, seen, and supported. That I built things from the ground up and wasn’t afraid to figure it out along the way. I hope they say I was real. That I didn’t just chase success, but made space for others to grow with me.
I want to be remembered as someone who poured everything into what she loved. Someone who didn’t cut corners and never gave up, even when it got hard. Not perfect, not always polished, but present. And someone who used her hustle and heart to make things better for the people around her.
