We recently had the chance to connect with Luis Jairala and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Luis, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I think people outside of this business often don’t realize how much work goes on behind the scenes. From photos and videos on social media, it’s easy to assume that working for example an award show or covering a red carpet is all ‘fun and glamorous.’ But in reality, there’s a lot of standing, waiting, and running around to capture as much content as possible. There’s also pre-booking interviews, managing coverage before, during, and after the event, and dealing with the pressure to publish content in real time to maximize views, engagement, and grow the audience. I love what I do and the industry I work in, but it’s definitely not as easy as it might look. People don’t always see what it really takes to make it all happen.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Luis Jairala, and I am the Music Network Manager at Olympusat. I currently oversee four TV networks — two linear channels and two FAST channels: Ultra Fiesta, Free TV Hits, Ultra Banda, and Free TV Banda. In addition to my role as network manager, I am also the on-air TV host for Ultra Fiesta, where I regularly interview musicians, actors, and provide coverage for award shows and red carpet events.
I’ve been with Olympusat for nearly 14 years. I was originally hired to build Ultra Fiesta from the ground up, and since then, we’ve successfully launched several music channels worldwide. I’ve always made it a priority to stay on top of current music trends and genres, ensuring we deliver the most relevant and engaging content to our audience.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I have always been a dreamer. I remember, as a child, envisioning many things that I have since been able to accomplish through my work. However, even though I believed I could reach my goals, there was always a part of me that felt it was impossible—or I would limit myself.
Now, as an adult, I dream big and reach for the highest. I truly believe that if you work hard and go through life without hurting others, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Stay strong — it will all get better. You are capable of doing things beyond what you can imagine. Don’t live your life according to what the world considers “normal.” Live your life for you, not to please others. You are perfect just the way God made you, and you should be proud of who you are.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
One cultural value I protect at all costs is respect— for every individual’s humanity. I also hold on tightly to the value of community—the idea that we are responsible not only for ourselves but for lifting each other up. Lastly, I deeply protect the value of integrity: staying true to who I am, honoring where I come from, and living with honesty.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m with my family and my best friends. There’s something deeply comforting about being surrounded by people who truly know me. In their presence, I don’t have to explain myself or pretend to be anything I’m not. Whether we’re sharing a meal, laughing over old memories, or just sitting together in silence, I feel a sense of grounding and belonging that nothing else can replace. Those moments remind me of how blessed I am and what really matters—and in that space, I feel safe, loved, and at peace.
