lindsay Reyes’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

We’re looking forward to introducing you to lindsay Reyes. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning lindsay, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
This is such a thoughtful question—and one I genuinely reflect on often. Before every appointment, I make a conscious effort to renew my mindset. It’s easy, especially in creative industries like ours, to get caught up in our expertise—to focus on what we think is best, how qualified we are, and the artistic vision we bring. While that confidence matters, I’ve learned that true excellence comes from shifting the focus fully onto the client.

I always ask myself, “If I were sitting in that chair, what would I want?” And the answer is simple: I’d want someone who gives me their all. That means going above and beyond—consulting with care, listening with intention, customizing the look to my features, and never cutting corners. I approach each appointment as if it’s the most important one I’ll ever do.

If I knew someone was walking into an appointment with the goal of making me feel seen, beautiful, and completely cared for—I’d hire them in a heartbeat. And that’s the standard I hold myself to every time.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Lindsay, and I’m a luxury bridal makeup artist specializing in timeless, elegant glam that enhances rather than masks. My approach is deeply personal. Every look is customized not only to the bride’s features, but to her personality, aesthetic, and the emotional tone of her day.

One of the signature elements of my work is my custom lash technique, where I individually map and apply lashes tailored to each eye shape, creating a seamless, elevated look without heavy bands or strip lash bulk. What makes my brand unique is the level of intentionality and care behind every decision, from product selection to skin prep to the length of time spent perfecting every detail. I don’t believe in copy-paste glam; I believe in luxury through precision and artistry, and more importantly, through truly seeing and honoring the woman in my chair.

My work has always grown organically through referrals and connection, which I believe is a testament to the experience I create. Right now, I’m focused on expanding my educational offerings for women who want to elevate their own everyday glam and understand the why behind the techniques I use.

Whether I’m with a bride on her wedding day or teaching a one-on-one in her home, I carry the same mission: to help women feel their most beautiful—elegantly, effortlessly, and authentically.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
There are three women in my life who have always seen me—truly seen me—for more than I believed I was. Their names are Esther, Nicole, and Linda, and their presence in my life is one of the greatest blessings I’ve ever received. The irony is that none of them even know each other, a testament to how certain people are in your life for certain reasons.

Each of them, in their own way, has spoken into the parts of me I struggled to believe in. I’ve always had a tendency to underestimate myself, to worry, to second-guess, to fear that I wasn’t enough or that I would fall short. I’ve broken down more times than I can count, overwhelmed by self-doubt or fear of failure. But they’ve consistently reminded me of my strength, my capability, and my value—especially when I couldn’t see it myself.

They’ve seen my potential when I only saw pressure. They’ve reminded me of my purpose when I was focused on my flaws. And their belief in me has been a quiet but powerful force behind so many of the things I’ve accomplished. That kind of faith in someone is truly a gift and I don’t take it for granted.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely—especially in the beginning. I started out behind the counter at M.A.C., like many artists, over a decade ago. At the time, I had no idea how I could ever crawl out of retail and build a client base of my own. Everyone’s path is different, but mine felt especially harsh at times. I was terrified to go out on my own and fail. I didn’t know how to attract clients or if I was even good enough to pursue makeup as a full-time career.

It took me 10 years of doing makeup as a “side hobby” before I finally found the courage to step into it fully. Along the way, I worked all kinds of jobs (weekday shifts, corporate positions) you name it. And still, I kept doing makeup on the side, even when I felt burnt out or unsure of where it was leading. Deep down, I just loved it. And that’s how I knew it was real, because even without the recognition or success, I kept coming back to it.

There were so many moments I felt like giving up, especially when I’d see someone else living the life I dreamed of. It made me feel like maybe it would never happen for me. But somehow, even through the doubt and detours, I kept going. And I’m grateful I did.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
God. I am a Christian and without my faith, nothing would really matter. As long as I am walking alongside him, Ill be ok.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
Another artist once asked me if I got nervous before weddings. That after all these years, she sitll gets nervous. I stopped to think about that and the answer is NO. I truly dont know why I dont get nervous because I worry about EVERYTHING else ! I am always excited. Always pumped to deliver. Especially, when its a new venue or location. It feels like a dream to be in a beautiful scenery, making someone feel beautiful on their most important day. Im always happy at work!
