Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy Gonzalez
Wendy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Creating content has always been more than a hobby for me—it’s been a way of life! Picture this: me, a kid, tinkering with videos on my old Windows 6 PC, excitedly watching my homemade movies on a clunky video player. And then, the internet burst onto the scene, opening up a whole new world. I fell head over heels for makeup and content creation. It was like one of those magical movie moments where time stops, and you’re mesmerized by something truly beautiful. Yep, that’s when I knew: this was my calling.
I dove headfirst into the beauty industry, completely immersed in everything from eyebrows to makeup to hair. You name it, I was all over it! But then, life threw me a curveball—I lost over 200 lbs. That transformation was a game-changer. I realized beauty wasn’t just about makeup; it was about feeling fabulous and confident in my own skin. still as a beautiful plus-sized woman.
With a newfound zest for life and fashion, I embraced the camera like never before. It was time to explore everything I loved. I pursued my passion by going to school to become an esthetician and trained with the best in the business for eyebrow laminations. And trust me, I’m far from done!
At 34, I feel like I’m just getting started. Who says dreams have an expiration date? I’m on a mission to chase every dream, break every barrier, and create something truly extraordinary. The best part? I’m having the time of my life, and I’m not stopping anytime soon!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Let’s be real—life’s not always a smooth road. It’s full of twists, turns, and unexpected curveballs. There were times I wanted to throw in the towel, especially when my mental health took a hit. Quitting didn’t bring me peace; it felt like I was digging myself deeper into a hole.
But then, therapy entered my life and revolutionized my mental game. It’s been a game-changer, helping me tackle challenges head-on and shift my mindset. I’m still in the trenches, building my brand and my business, and let me tell you, I’m not giving up.
Life might be tough, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. I’m more determined than ever to reach the dreams I’ve always envisioned. Hard? Yes. Unachievable? Not a chance!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Im Wendy, a content creator and entrepreneur on the rise! My personal brand, “Wenmariee,” is just starting to make waves. Navigating the ever-changing algorithms can be a challenge, but I’m making my mark in the content creation world. I’ve had the privilege of working with top-notch brands like Torrid, Dove, and Good American, and my dream collaboration? Anything Fenty—hair, skin, beauty, Savage, you name it. One goal at a time, but I’ll get there!
On the business side, I’m a licensed esthetician and have launched my own studio specializing in eyebrow laminations, tinting, beauty treatments, and facials. I’m also working towards my PMU license and have a host of other exciting business goals in the pipeline. Having my own brand has always been a dream, and Rihanna’s Fenty is not just my ultimate dream brand to collaborate with—she’s my business idol.
My target audience, like Rihanna is Everyone! From beauty and skin to fashion and accessories, I aim to connect with a diverse range of people. I’m most proud of believing in myself and pushing my limits. I pour my heart and soul into everything I do, I’m proud of every step I’ve taken. What sets me apart from others maybe the love I pour and cater into each project, and client.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I’m still on the hunt for a mentor, but for now, therapy has been my guiding light. It’s helping me stay focused and resilient while I find the right mentor to work with. I have a list of incredible people I look up to and dream of collaborating with one day. And yes, I’ve definitely shot my shot! 😅 But I understand that life is busy, and I don’t want to be a bother.
What’s been working for me is reaching out to successful people, asking questions, and seeking their advice on what they might have done differently. I take notes, soak up their wisdom, and use it to keep pushing forward. It’s all about learning from those who’ve been there and done that. Every piece of advice is a step closer to my goals! a piece of advice, never be afraid to ask questions. you never know what will come from it.
