Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerie Roberson from Valash Events.
Hi Valerie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My journey started about 12 years ago when I went to the Art Institute of Ft Lauderdale for a degree in Interior Design. Design has always been a big passion of mine. There is just something about walking into a room and knowing exactly what to do, it’s definitely a gift.
Shortly after finishing school, my husband suggested getting into event design as it was similar to interior design; It was designing a space but just for an event. I looked into it with a friend of mine, and we started Valash. Unfortunately, our partnership didn’t work out but I continued successfully growing Valash into what it is today. It’s been a huge learning and growing experience for me as I taught myself most of what I know.
Within the last 12 years, I have become very knowledgeable in every aspect of the industry, I have learned different techniques, and I can proudly say I am very multi-faceted when it comes to my designs. Whether it is a wedding, kids’ party, or corporate event, my clients trust I can build a design for them that fits their vision.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been an interesting road, it has come with a lot of sacrifices, long hours and late nights, sometimes even no sleep for over 36 hours but it’s all been worth it. I’ve met some amazing vendors along the way & some challenging ones.
Choosing the wrong vendor can change everything in the logistics and the look of an event therefore affecting timelines & outcomes. We have a huge responsibility to each client & I take that very seriously. My clients are family, I’ve been extremely lucky in that department because my clients are all amazing.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Valash Events specializes in custom luxury events. We design with each client in mind. We started mostly creating children’s events, however, we have experience in every type of event from weddings to corporate events, and we’ve done them all. We love a good challenge & there’s nothing we can’t do. I am proud of how we’ve grown, I can master any type or style of event. Event design and logistics come as second nature to me.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the diversity of people in South FL. I like that we come across people from all walks of life. I also appreciate all the options we have in the event industry, anything you need, there’s a vendor for it. In terms of what I don’t like, well traffic for one, when we are running late for an event.
Lastly, people in Miami have big personalities and that can be a good thing or a bad thing. But I’m grateful for everyone I’ve met along the way because, in one way or another, I have learned from them.
