Today we’d like to introduce you to Tierney Jones.
Hi Tierney, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started doing makeup on myself in the 10 grade. I started simply on eyebrows and as time grew, I went on to work my way into foundations, setting powder, etc. Being honest, I started doing my makeup because I was insecure. I never felt as pretty as everyone around me. I had acne and most of my friends didn’t. Makeup was my way of making myself feel beautiful when nothing else worked. In the past two years, I’ve fallen even more inlove with the artistry behind what makeup truly is. I’ve learned to love myself underneath the makeup while also appreciating the confidence boost it can have. Makeup is soo much more than just eyebrows, eyeshadow and a nice lip combo. There’s power in being able to look like whoever or whatever or even staying true to you and keeping it natural.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road at all. There are days where I just break down and cry because I feel like maybe I’m not doing enough. Then there are also days where I look at how far I’ve come and it’s only been a year. I’ve had to watch people closest to me support others before showing me any support. Starting this business has shown me that a true Boss doesn’t shy away from the hard work just because the going gets tough.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a makeup artist that specializes in the everyday looks and even the most glamorous of looks. I’m most proud of my growth. I say that because simply a year ago, I was hesitant on even taking clients because I thought I wouldn’t receive the right amount of support or people wouldn’t want to come to me. There were so many what ifs in my head. Then one day, I decided to just give it a shot and just watch what happens. What sets me apart from others is my love for the skill of makeup and my dedication to not giving up. I say that because makeup is something anyone can do and be good at. But when you have a true passion for something and that’s the only thing your heart truly desires it will show in your work, in your professionalism, and even in you as a person.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories would be me rummaging through my mom’s makeup kit and throwing whatever she had on my face and then going to her asking do I look pretty and making her take pictures of me.
