Hi Tanya, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey started long before Selfie Aesthetic ever had a name. I’ve always been fascinated by the balance between science and beauty; how subtle, precise changes can make someone look and feel like the best version of themselves. After more than 15 years in medicine and aesthetics, I founded Selfie Aesthetic with one mission: to create a space where expertise, artistry, and genuine care could coexist.
At Selfie Aesthetic, we’re hyperfocused on injectables. It’s what we do, and it’s what we do better than any other practice. While we have many trusted colleagues who specialize in lasers and dermatology, our expertise lies entirely in facial injectables. We’re one of the few practices in Miami that can safely and skillfully treat the entire face and neck with injectables, including advanced areas like the nose, forehead, temples, and neck. With over 4,600 patients in our database and more than 2,500 toxin treatments performed each year, we’ve built our reputation on consistency, precision, and results that look effortlessly natural.
Our philosophy has never been about trends or exaggerated changes; it’s about confidence. Every patient who walks through our doors deserves a treatment that’s tailored, safe, and natural. Over the years, that philosophy transformed Selfie Aesthetic into a thriving destination known for subtle, elevated results and a patient experience grounded in trust and expertise.
As the practice evolved, education became my next calling. I noticed many new injectors struggling with safety techniques, especially with aspiration. That observation inspired me to invent the Liftie Aspirator, now the best-selling soft aspirator in the U.S. It’s used nationwide by injectors who share my belief that safety and precision should never be compromised.
Today, I’m proud to own our beautiful Miami office, five years in the making, and to continue mentoring injectors while serving patients who want the most natural, refined version of themselves. Every success we’ve had has been built on patience, passion, and a deep commitment to helping others feel confident in their skin.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Before Selfie Aesthetic, I spent years working for others; often being underestimated, overlooked, and underpaid. I worked for one employer for seven years without a single raise, even as I took on more responsibilities, marketed myself without any support, and fought just to have a medical assistant. There were rude comments, resistance, and moments that could have easily discouraged me. But instead, they fueled me.
Those experiences shaped how I wanted to lead when I finally created Selfie Aesthetic. I promised myself that my team would never feel undervalued or unheard. At Selfie, we treat our employees with the fairness and respect that’s often missing in medicine. We pay well, celebrate each other’s successes, and collaborate on major decisions as a team. Everyone has a voice here, and that’s a big reason why our culture, and our results, feel so different and our patients see that.
The challenges I faced early in my career taught me to trust my instincts, stay patient, and keep moving forward, even when others didn’t see the vision. Looking back, those struggles were the best preparation for where we are today, running a practice that’s rooted in integrity, excellence, and mutual respect.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My focus has always been precision injectables, particularly advanced, high-skill treatments like non-surgical nose filler and full-face rejuvenation. I’m known for my painless approach to nose filler and with the best results with no migration whatsoever. This is a trade secret of mine for the past 7 years and when I get the most referrals for from other injectors that dare not touch the nose.
The nose is one of the most artistic areas of the face to treat. It requires not just technical skill, but vision, restraint, and an understanding of proportion. I love the challenge of refining a nose with filler because the changes are so subtle yet transformative. A millimeter of precision can change the way light hits the face, how balance is restored, and how someone feels when they look in the mirror. It’s one of my favorite treatments because it’s the most emotional for me and the patient. When they sit up and see themselves in the mirror for the first time, the tears of joy get me every time and then I cry too!
In addition to treating patients, I’m also an educator and national trainer for both Allergan and Galderma. Teaching is one of the most fulfilling parts of my career. It allows me to share what I’ve learned about facial assessment, technique, and safety with other injectors who are just as passionate about the art and science of aesthetics. There’s a special satisfaction in seeing others gain confidence and skill in such a nuanced field.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The quality I feel is most important to my success is consistency, paired with having the right team. In aesthetics, trends come and go, but staying true to natural results and individualized patient goals ensures long-term satisfaction. My dedicated team of injectors and staff help maintain that standard every day, which is why our referrals remain our strongest form of marketing.
