Life & Work with Rylin Rossano of Fort Lauderdale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rylin Rossano.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always been someone who feels everything deeply — the good, the hard, the in-between. My story really began at fifteen, when my body suddenly stopped cooperating the way it used to. What doctors first called “ just anxiety” turned out to be autonomic dysfunction. Autonomic dysfunction (dysautonomia) is a condition where the body’s “autopilot” system — the one that controls heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, and temperature — doesn’t work properly. It causes the body to struggle with basic regulation, leading to symptoms like dizziness, fatigue, rapid heart rate, and fainting. And that completely changed my life. For a long time, I was in survival mode. I had to relearn what it meant to live inside a body that didn’t always have the energy to keep up with my dreams.

Writing became my lifeline. It was the one place I could still be fully myself. That’s what led to my first book, Once Upon a Time, I Survived Myself. I wrote it as both a memoir and a message — that you can go through something impossible and still come out softer, wiser, and more you.

From there, I started my podcast, Take Care of Your Body by Ry, because I wanted to take everything I was learning about healing, wellness, and mental health and share it with others in real time. It’s not about perfection; it’s about learning to listen to your body and your heart at the same time.

Now, I see everything I do — my writing, my podcast, my brand — as part of one bigger purpose: helping people take care of themselves the way I had to learn to. I’m still growing, still evolving, and still turning survival into something beautiful.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not — but honestly, I don’t think it was meant to be. My life has been a series of sharp turns, rest stops, and unexpected detours that taught me more about strength than any smooth path ever could.

Living with dysautonomia means constantly adapting. Some days I wake up ready to take on the world; other days, I’m just trying to stand up without my heart racing. There have been doctor visits that left me in tears, moments where I felt invisible, and long stretches of learning that healing isn’t linear.

But the hardest part hasn’t just been the illness — it’s been losing people I’ve loved along the way. I’ve lost friends, family, and versions of myself I thought would last forever. Grief changes you; it rearranges your heart. But it’s also what taught me how precious connection is, and how deeply I want to live while I’m here.

So no, it hasn’t been a smooth road. It’s been heartbreak and healing, resilience and rebuilding. But every loss and every setback made me more empathetic, more grounded, and more certain that I’m meant to turn what hurt me into something that helps someone else. That’s what Once Upon a Time, I Survived Myself is really about — surviving the detours, not just the destination.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an author, creator, and host of Take Care of Your Body by Ry — a global wellness podcast and brand built around authenticity, healing, and hope. I wrote my first book, Once Upon a Time, I Survived Myself, as a love letter to anyone who’s ever felt broken and needed proof they could put themselves back together. I share stories that remind people they’re not too late to start over, not too sensitive to be loved, and not too complicated to be understood.

My work blends storytelling, science, and soul. I talk about mental health, body image, chronic illness, and the messy, beautiful parts of growing up. I think what sets me apart is my transparency — I don’t pretend to have it all figured out. I show the real, unfiltered process of healing, and I think people connect with that honesty.

What I’m most proud of isn’t the numbers or the milestones — it’s the messages from people who say, “your words made me feel less alone.” That’s everything to me. I’m proud of building something that feels human. Something that says: taking care of your body also means taking care of your heart.

How do you think about luck?
Honestly, I think my story is a mix of both — a little bit of bad luck that turned into the best kind of good luck. Getting sick as a teenager, losing people I loved, and having to rebuild my world from scratch didn’t feel lucky at all at the time. But looking back, those moments shaped everything I do now.

If I hadn’t gotten sick, I might not have written my book. If I hadn’t experienced loss, I might not have understood empathy the way I do. I think my “luck” has always been disguised as lessons — painful ones that eventually became purpose.

So, while my life has had its share of bad luck, I see it now as divine timing. The right detours at the right moments. Every setback was just a plot twist I needed to survive myself — and in a strange, beautiful way, that’s the luckiest thing that’s ever happened to me.
