Life & Work with Richard Anderson of Pembroke Pines

Today we’d like to introduce you to Richard Anderson

Hi Richard, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey as a content creator began around 2019 or 2020, inspired by seeing others on social media share their foodie experiences. Like many, I have always had a passion for exploring new restaurants and trying dishes I had never had before, so it felt natural to step into this world. At first, it was a challenge because I had never engaged much on Instagram, and putting myself out there for the world to see was not easy. I am naturally more reserved, so this experience became an opportunity for personal growth as well.

Through the ups and downs, from upgrading my gear to missing out on some opportunities, I have learned a lot and made new friends in the industry. With the support of my wife and two daughters, who are also into their own content creation, it has definitely been worth it. We also have a German Shepherd, and at this point, she is the only one missing in action when it comes to being a creator. That is something else I would definitely enjoy, creating a cool page for her. Looking back, I am proud of how far I have come and how much knowledge I have gained in content creation. Now, I am excited to expand beyond food and cocktails, creating new channels and exploring even more creative avenues.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, it has definitely been a roller coaster. In the beginning, you work with the equipment and knowledge you have, and it’s easy to get caught up comparing your gear to others, trying to get the same or better. But that’s not always the right approach. While equipment matters, it’s not as crucial as some may think. What really takes time is learning the process of creating and editing. You pick up tricks, discover new programs and websites, and eventually realize that you don’t need all the tools you thought were essential. That understanding is a key part of growth.

Another challenge has been getting collaborations with restaurants and reaching out to brands to showcase drinks or food-related products. When you’re just starting, it’s tough because businesses want to see your work, engagement, and follower count. So, many of my early videos were just me, or me and my family, creating content while we were out. Financially, it can definitely take a toll, especially when you’re aiming to consistently post fresh material.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have been in the banking industry for the past 13 years, and throughout that time, I have grown and advanced in my career. I’m proud of the progress I’ve made, working my way up and expanding my knowledge through collaborations within the industry. What sets me apart is my ability to draw from personal experience, which allows me to truly understand my clients’ needs and assist them in more meaningful ways.

Being in this field has also shown me how important financial literacy is, and I believe it should be a key part of education. From younger generations to older ones, I’ve seen how valuable financial tips and advice can be for people at all stages of life. It’s something I’m passionate about sharing.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I would say luck does play a role, especially when posting content and hoping it goes viral. Personally, it’s hard to define what counts as good luck or bad luck, because in the end, it’s about the lessons you take away. For example, maybe I wasn’t lucky enough to be invited to a restaurant opening, but because of that, I had the chance to try something different and unique. I try to focus on the positives and remain consistent. In my opinion, good luck and bad luck are often shaped by how we choose to view them.
