Life & Work with Patricia Desamours

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patricia Desamours.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my makeup journey in my hometown Montreal, Canada with a love for dance and performances. I found a deep passion for beauty and the feeling that came with making people feel their best and transforming them into a new version of themselves. During my UQAM university days, I doubled my studies and got certified in makeup from Lasalle college with a fantastic teacher Pargol. Once my portfolio leaked, I fell in a makeup rabbit hole and never left. I then took a leap of faith and took my talents to Miami, Florida. I’ve since been surrounded by amazing souls that love and support my art who continuously refer me within my old and new hometown also on an international scale.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life is a constant learning experience, I’ve definitely had a few speed bumps and detours. From being injured and not being to walk to learning how to say no on a professional and personal level, I took all my l’s as lessons and not losses. I learned how crucial it is to put God first, to take care of your body and your physical/mental health.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a multifaceted professional makeup artist and I specialize in versatility. Any kind of makeup needed, any skin tone, from beauty or bridal makeup to special effects for productions, anything is possible on this side. I’m known to be a chameleon and a polyglot which allows me to provide makeup services and teach in person & online classes in English, French, Creole, Spanish and Italian. Plus, I’m available for travel

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Covid-19 thought me to stay ready for uncertain times and the importance of residual income. I expanded my craft past my physical and created online classes and my very own brand Patricia’s Canvas. Although I was born a major germaphobe, learning new sanitizing techniques has been a game changer for my tools in order to keep my clients protected at all times
