Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Alvarez
Hi Nancy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Nancy Alvarez, and I proudly wear many hats. I’m a wife, mom, paralegal, small business owner and a cheer/gymnastics mom. I’ve always had a deep love for being creative, especially when it came to making things for my kids, like planning their birthday parties. It really helped me tap into my creative side, and for a while, I toyed with the idea of starting a business but I had no clue what kind of business it would be. I knew I wanted something that would be a creative outlet, but I still struggled with finding that right fit.
Fast forward to 2022, when a friend asked me to decorate his wife’s baby shower with balloons, I of course, said yes, despite not having a clue what I was doing! But from that moment, I immediately fell in love with balloons and the entire process of designing with them. That experience is what ultimately sparked the passion that led to starting my own business, and now here I am, turning that creative outlet into something even more special!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s no secret that running a business, whether big or small, takes a lot of work, and it has definitely not been a smooth road for me. There have been plenty of challenges along the way. One of the biggest struggles has been learning the business side of things, figuring out everything from finances to marketing, which was completely new to me. At the same time, I’ve had to learn and perfect the creative side of my business, from making balloon designs to staying up to date with trends.
Balancing both sides, along with everything that falls in between, has been a huge learning curve. But taking educational courses along the way has really helped me grow as a business owner and refine my skills. This continuous learning has allowed me to better serve my clients and provide them with a higher level of service and creativity. Despite the bumps in the road, every challenge has made me stronger and more confident in my journey.
