Life & Work with Michelle Valin of Miami / South Florida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Valin.

Hi Michelle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My love for photography started in a high school darkroom, where I watched one of my photos slowly appear on paper for the first time. That moment sparked a fascination with capturing real life moments and preserving emotion through images.

After graduation, photography took a backseat for a while. Years later, I picked up a camera again on a whim and quickly fell back in love with it. A chance conversation with a photographer who was taking headshots at my workplace led to mentorship, countless hours of practice, and eventually turning photography into something much bigger.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not. One of my biggest struggles was constantly comparing myself to photographers with more experience. It often made me question my own abilities and progress.

Starting a business also meant learning skills beyond photography, like marketing and building a client base. Over time I was able to gain more experience and supportive clients helped me grow more confident in both my work and myself.

I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my friends and my family, thank you!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in portrait and lifestyle photography, including weddings, engagements, graduates, maternity sessions, and families, but I’m always open to exploring new types of photography as well. My focus is always on capturing genuine emotion and authentic moments (especially those stunning candid shots,)

I believe what sets me apart is the connection I build with my clients. I strive to create a comfortable environment so people can relax and be themselves so we can get beautiful photos. Imagine that friend you haven’t talked to in forever but instantly click with once you’re together again… that’s what I strive for with each client.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I love connecting with new faces and reconnecting with familiar ones. Whether you have a creative shoot idea or simply want a photographer who will capture all the meaningful details, I’d love to connect. Feel free to reach out through social media!

Referrals and social media support have played a huge role in my growth, and I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who shares my work and follows along on my journey.
