Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Giampietro.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was introduced to the landscape industry as a young teenager. Our family operated a well-known landscape company in Connecticut. My father, Donald, was an award-winning designer. He took me under his wing and taught me his design philosophies. The family business also educated me on the ethics of running a business and the importance of maintaining an excellent reputation.
My father was my inspiration to earn a degree in Landscape Architecture, as well as study Japanese Gardens in Kyoto, Japan. Unexpectedly, in 1999, my father passed, leaving me with big shoes to fill. I continued to design and build landscapes in Connecticut until 2003 when I received a call to design water features in South Florida.
I decided to start a Waterfall business in Florida. After building over 100 waterfalls by 2011, I realized that it was time to get back to my roots and start designing and building entire landscapes. Since then, our company has been creating backyards, pools, patios, gardens, and water features throughout South Florida.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Providing a product with the highest quality standards requires an extreme amount of commitment. This translates into a lot of extra time and effort in making sure the final product is the best that it can be for our clients. Running a small business means learning how to adapt to challenges and make decisions that will keep the business going in the right direction.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are a landscape design and installation company. We design and build the entire property for a home. This may involve gardens, swimming pools, water features, and outdoor seating areas. Our design process begins with developing landscape design drawings. We work closely with the client creating a design that expresses the client’s unique style.
From the drawings, we build the entire landscape from start to finish. Hearing the responses from our clients that they love what we have created for them is the best compliment. We pride ourselves in having the ability to create any style that the client wants. It is our goal to create outdoor spaces that are comfortable for the family to use.
Another specialty of ours is the unique rock waterfall that we create. We design and build large-scale rock waterfalls throughout the United States and abroad.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
As our client base continues to rapidly expand, we are preparing ourselves to work on projects throughout the United States and abroad. The size and scale of our projects are growing. Consequently, we are continuously creating new relationships and collaborating with other professionals in order to meet the demands of large-scale projects.
