Today we’d like to introduce you to Louis Amanti.
Hi Louis, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Thank you so much for having me, it is a pleasure. My name is Louis Andrew Espindola, known by my stage name, Louis Amanti. I was born on June 14, 1991 in Miami, Florida. My mother Maria Elena Barrena and father Luis Espíndola were born in Cuba then moved to Miami at an early age. My parents had a passion for music but a heart for playing instruments. My mother studied classical piano and musical theory for ten years. She then obtained a Master of Social Work from Barry University in Miami, Florida. My father studied Big Band Arranging at Berkeley College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. After obtaining his degree, he moved to Puerto Rico and directed many Jazz Bands on the island.
When I was 8 years old, I went through the loss of mymother. Music helped me cope and grow as a singer. Growing up I looked to Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Julio Iglesias, Christopher Cross, Luis Miguel and the list goes on.
At 10 years of age, I sang Frank Sinatra’s “Strangers in the Night” in front of an audience for the first time. At age 19, I began pursuing my career as a singer and started performing at nightclubs, restaurants, banquet halls, weddings and social gatherings in Miami.
In 2014, I released a rendition of Nat King Cole’s hit “L-O-V-E” on social media; views on Youtube have reached the 3 million mark. During this year, I also performed several times at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, accompanied by the Miami Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Eduardo Marturet.
In 2015, I worked on a number of songs with Rudy Perez, a five-time Grammy Award-winning producer, who guided the production of my first extended long play that includes “Do You Still Remember Me” an original song written by Burt Bacharach and Rudy Perez.
At age 25, David Foster, a 16-time Grammy award winner, invited me to perform at the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Gala. Accompanied by Mr. Foster, I interpreted “That’s Amore” and “Save the Last Dance for Me”, to a crowd of over 1,000 attendees.
I recorded my second original single “Rolling of the Dice” in 2019 written and produced by Julio Reyes Copello, a nine-time Latin Grammy award-winning producer.
A few years later I then released my first career duet “Sweet and Gentle” with Colombian singer Flora Martinez on June 2019. The song successfully landed on “VibraTropical”, a Spotify editorial playlist, reaching more than 2.6 million streams.
On July 6, 2019, I had the pleasure to open for Dionne Warwick at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.
Lastly, on July 6, 2019 I released “HIM”, a ballad rendition of the classic Rupert Holmes song. “HIM” victoriously landed on “Jazz Pop”, a Spotify editorial playlist with almost a remarkable 612,000 streams.
I currently have a residence at Faena in Miami Beach where I perform on Tuesdays and Saturdays with my incredible trio band. We are currently producing a new show for later this year 2023 that I am really looking forward to share with you all soon.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wish I could say it has been a smooth road. It has been a road with many turns and merges. I have had to do a lot of adjusting in my life but have gained many experiences from meeting the most influential musicians, producers and agents. As everything in life, it comes down to business and as an artist; you have to surround yourself with people that are in your best interest. Challenges occur but I try to manage them with a positive mind set. If it does not fulfill my goals, and me I keep moving and looking for bigger opportunities.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a romantic musical artist and interpreter. I do what I love every single day and I am always working on a new project. For instance, now I am working on developing a new concept at Faena, which is exciting. I am also working with a new group of amazing producers on something special that I look forward to sharing in a few months.
As I mentioned before, you can find my band and me at Faena Miami Beach on Tuesdays from 8:30 – 10:30 and Saturdays from 7:30 – 9:30.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Taking risk is everything. I strongly believe that the only way we can get to somewhere is by taking a chance. From signing contracts with managers, agents, labels you have to take risk and trust your intuition.
